Ps looks great with the laser lights and blue calipers.

I really like this color, but I don't understand why it can't be ordered with the Driving Assistance Plus Package. That was a deal breaker for me, so I went with Phytonic Blue.

I read elsewhere (don’t recall the article) that the color interferes with the camera’s and or sensor’s ability to read road markings. It may be that the camera sees the reflection of the road’s lines as well.

My guess is that it is one of the reasons why the paint/color color selection is so limited

It’s a mystery that I have not found an answer for but it makes sense that something about this color is making DAPP less safe or effective.

I decided I did not need the DAPP so I picked the color I wanted.

It's due to the paint requiring additional coatings of paint, compared to other paints, which increase the thickness of the paint and interferes with the drivers assistance systems

So you’re saying I have more coats of paint than the rest?

With the plastic coat and 4 layers of ceramic I will be close to bulletproof!

Yes seems there are a bunch more (or different) sensors involved that are not compatible with the paint process of Sunstone.

That color is nice. It reminds me of my first BMW, a 1988 528e in Bronzit. Loved that car.

Your color is richer and nicer I think, but it does bring back fond memories of BMW from yesteryear.

Here's a photo of Bronzit. A popular color for BMW in the late 80's. Not my car, but E28 5er like mine.

My first BMW was a 1988 325is in Bronzit beige. Current car is Cashmere Silver and my Sunstone X5 is due for delivery in a couple of weeks. I sense a pattern...

I did get the off-road package but have not taken it off road. Used Snow Mode the other on 26 heading over Government Camp. The road was more icey than snow but the car performed fine.

Is "snow mode" specifically part of the off-road package?

that is good to know. my main concern was performance over snow/ice. it will be fine on our forest service roads. I spoke with Jake at that BMW dealership. they have grey color available. I am just nervous and worried after reading few posts on drivetrain malfunction. how does your car drive?

Well, hmmmm... by default, I had zero interest in the Offroad Package, as I would have no chance of taking an X5 or X7 actually offroad. But I wonder if it'd be worth it for those of us that live in a northern snowy climate.
