So how this works, if they take soft close from a package, one does not get soft close but gets all the other stuff from the package? Perhaps some small reimbursement for the soft close? I do hope am still getting all of the other options. Soft close not a deal breaker for me , 4 zone climate more important as it adds vents in the middle pillars, extra air for the back which is important for me.

It really depends on the situation. At this point they are not removing the feature from the package but rather holding production until the supply is available.

We should also note that at this time it appears the shortages are only affecting US bound vehicles. Other countries have not reported any delays due to them. Whether that is a case of folks just not reporting it I don't know although we had someone from Europe report an order this morning with no delay. Of course their builds are pretty far out so may not be effected.

So, If I swap down to ZPP from ZPX, I would lose 407, 4A2 and 323 (ok to lose 323, but would like the others).

Does anyone know if it is possible to individually add 4A2 and 407 to ZPP?

Incidentally, my X5 x40i was scheduled for a week 19 build before my order went from 112 to 111. The BMW Genius now tells me I'm scheduled for week 28. If that holds true, I think I'm okay waiting it out to get what I want but am nervous this could get pushed out further.

Thanks!
I went from week 20 to 29 due to ZPX SCD 323 "availability issue". I chose to replace ZPX with ZPP and I am now back at 150 status with a 5/16 production date. I asked if it was possible to add glass controls but looks like for the US market this is not possible (unlike in the EU where it is a stand alone option, so it should not really be a huge production assembly issue). Have not heard back officially from the dealer but I am not holding out much hope either. Does anyone know if there is an option for glass controls to be added after production at the dealership or by third parties? Any tips or insights would be appreciated .
Cheers

Thanks for your input but I have it on my 7-Series and use it every single day. It's so nice not having to slam the door and I actually end up not closing it properly on any car that doesn't have soft-close because of using it every time I close the door.

While I agree that it's not something someone couldn't live without we could spin this argument further and say that everyone could live without an 50e or X5 in general for that matter.

When I'm spending WAY north of 100k before taxes on a car (a 50e fully loaded is $130k before taxes in Germany and $160k before taxes in Switzerland) I expect it to be the way I want it and I'm definitely not going to make any compromises.

Again the dealers seem to be the least reliable source in the BMW sphere. (Surprise since most don't even get the basic facts of their cars right.) So I'd take everything a dealer says with a huge pinch of salt. My dealer still says he doesn't know about ANY shortages in Germany while I know for a fact that orders from others in Germany are being cancelled/delayed due to 22" or soft-close and many of them have only been informed the day it should've gone 112 and being asked to decide whether to remove soft-close and have it jump to 112 or keep the soft-close and have it stay at 111 and wait until late '23, possibly early '24. (I could imagine this might be a bit exaggerated to have the customers remove it.) Let me put it this way: Chances are your dealer will be the very last one to know.

This also affects German customers up to the M60i.

My build date was confirmed yesterday for a 3rd week of June build slot. I specifically asked about any parts shortages and was told there is nothing affecting the M60i at present.

I know cars that were scheduled this week and have been delayed by 4 weeks , so EU cars do suffer from shortage on parts as well.

Well over 50% of Spartanburg production is exported each year with China being at the top of the list.

Yeah, same here, I asked my dealer before my order about adding glass controls without executive package, and he confirmed that is not possible...

I think that has changed in the last few years with more production in Thailand and of course China.

Wife’s week 20 build got punted to 28. Sheesh.

I’d forgo the SCD and Executive, but she’s obsessed with that damn LED Sky Roof. 😆

Meanwhile my X3MC build that was ordered on Monday is scheduled for week 26.

I understand people want what they want but I’ve had them in the past and they are cool but sometimes they do create problems with the alarm system having them in the past also, I just found that I rarely use them so for me they’re just not worth paying for if they’re standard, that’s fine

Irish fully loaded 50e is €130k, it would be hard to swallow except the 30d with the same specs is €175k 😵‍💫

The supply chain is still not fully intact. I wonder if in the process of finding alternative sources, some of the reliability issues are a result of these new vendors. Lots of parts used to come out of Ukraine if I understand it correctly.

Got to be a couple of days to Charleston from Spartanburg by rail I suppose ....
