Yeah, it’s probably a case of BMW ships them that way and they don’t actually know the facts. I prefer staggered, but this works really well for what I am doing with my X5 (all seasons).

I'm also doing the square setup. The 742s will be here this week and I'm going to also put the Michelin P sport all seasons on. Really looking forward to it, and I'm glad to hear they run super smooth!

Did you go with the 9.5/10.5 "staggered" rims or 9.5 all around?

I'm running 20" squares right now as well. I bought 4 742M rims and will run a square setup on those as well (9.5" wide rims all around). A bit different than njnets21 , I wanted the Continental DWS 06+ as I wanted to run these as all seasons and the DWS's tend to be slightly better in the snow than the Michelin a/s 4's.

They don't make the Continentals in the 275/35/22 size so I chose the 285/35/22 size. The difference between this and the 740M 20" rims (275/45/20) I'm running now should be marginal enough to not be an issue.

Take a look below at the sizing comparison should anyone have similar thoughts of upgrading from square 20s.

Relevant if you wanted to throw DWS's on the rims OP is selling as well.

Realizing I never got back to you on this, but I bought a full set of 742M "front" wheels. So they're all 9.5" and I put the Michelin P Sports on there. So far I really like the ride, but I do feel like I'm going to want a spacer. And I think the look of the Continental tire is a bit chunkier and I wonder if that would have looked better. Not sure.
