My 2024 x5 m60i shows software version 11/2023.42 and says “up to date.” I wonder why it is showing up to date. Also, there is a way to turn off automatic software downloads. I just turned mine off so I can control when it updates to ensure enough time has passed and the bugs are hopefully worked out.

you can’t block it per se (or maybe you can if you cease communication between the server and vehicle through the Data Privacy settings). for the 45e, one can go into the app and control how it’s downloaded (automatically or not, wifi or mobile).

just ignore the notification to upgrade. over time, it will (should) disappear

Checking for an update does nothing since BMW doesn't support updates on demands. Once BMWNA chooses your vehicle to receive an update then it will be sent to the vehicle and/or phone.

Is it a backend problem then? Problems with European or country related servers?

The update succeeded on my 50e, it gave no errors, the new traffic light now shows up in my HUD. But it seems there is totally no connection with BMW.

Even if it's one file there can be a bug in the elsif market = 'BE' then...
I don’t know why there would be a market difference of the ‘same’ 11/2023.73 upgrade file (not saying there isn't), but so far US vehicles have not experienced ConnectedDrive issues afterwards.

and I think it’s safe to rule out if the bug you’re experiencing over there is pre-LCI versus LCI issue as it appears only LCI vehicles are getting this version pushed out to them.

quite the quandary indeed…

I’m in the U.S. and my 2024 X5 50e just updated to 11/2023.73 and no problems so far. Connected Drive and the app works just fine as well. Just adding my data point.

I did the update, then factory reset - found no bmw id icon in car to sign in, all services like apple car play were gone. Any idea what todo?

Firstly let the car shut down first. (30 mins)

FAISAL I just wonder when doing these updates that everything needs to be updated inc phone!

I did a hard reboot, so that holding the on/off button on the dash down and keep it down for at least 70 seconds maybe longer, the screen will go blank and come back on at least 3 times, once done allow the car to shut down 30 mins or so.

Then try it again

I had awful issues but now with these updates I make sure everything is updated and then do them, my car is really stable now.

Called BMW for an update on this issue and they say they still haven't heard anything from Germany about a fix for these "serious" problems. Germany is working on it...
I find this so strange reading that 11/2023.73 works for other people in other countries.

They even advised me to get 03/2024 at the dealer.

your dealerships shouldn’t give you any pushback to update because I would argue it’s a [connected] service related problem with the vehicle

I have an appointment for an update.
But it's all so weird. Serious problem, phones ringing off the hook, Germany is working on it, ... But at the same time I read people have no problem with this update.

Today I got a mail from BMW marketing and a message in the BMW app to buy some connected drive services... (traffic camera)

All right. I have an update for you all.
Yesterday morning (Sunday) when got into the car, I saw a notification saying "New update has been installed" and I was like, I didn't install anything.

I checked and to my surprise, all the missing App were back.
I went away from the car and checked the App and it was connected to the car again (via remote services)

The Best Part is:
Ambient Air was working back again LOL
I could finally smell the additional package (that I didn't wanted) but had to pay for

no, i-level/i-Step/iDrive software never installs automatically. apps and services, maps, and data privacy update automatically

Since yesterday evening suddenly everything seems to work again. Even though the same day BMW told me they had no timeline for a fix and they advised me to get 03/2024 at the dealer. Which I will do
