Who wants to write a book?

Have you ever wanted to write a book but never gotten around to it?

If so, what was the topic and why did you want to write it?

I’ve thought about it a lot. Maybe a motivational/self-help book or some real life story. Who knows. Romance book maybe?

I have the a really really good idea for a coffee table book but never got around to finding a publisher etc.. and or looked into the process. I should though one of these days as Im pretty confident it would sell well. And no i wont tell you guys what it is, dont want anyone to snag it lol

side note those who can write an actual book I have so much respect for. Im always amazed by the talent it takes to do so.

Actually yes, but this is an odd topic for me simply because the wife is an English teacher, however, I am the one who wants to write the book. I often encourage her, but she cannot bring herself to do so.

The backstory:
We had a natural pregnancy that ended early. We waited a couple months, tried again and got pregnant with what our perinatologist told us was an impossible identical twin pregnancy. With our doc strongly suggesting we abort one to save the other. Weekly visits would end with finding ourselves on the floor, hopeless and all alone. Trying with what seemed to be futile effort to hold up my wife and find some modicum of hope provided nothing.

Fast forward, our daughters turn 12 next month and the very same parinatologist told us we should write the book and he would provide a forward. In his 26 years he had never seen a case so hopeless turn out so well.

Our daughters were born at 29 weeks, the larger of the two at 3 lbs while the smaller of the two weighed in at 12.8 ounces. We spent the next nine months of our lives in a series of NICU's at times losing each of the twins for different reasons, occasionally with us being the ones to resuscitate.

Trust me when I say, its emotional and that is why she wont write it, but that is the VERY short of it. My goal would be to provide Hope for those without and donate the proceeds as funds to organizations that might offer that very same limited quantity of needed support for others in those trying times.

I'd buy it!

I think of some of the stories taxi drivers could tell on me and my business buddies back in the day. And, we weren't even that crazy. I can only imagine what an Uber driver experiences.

I had started to write back into the 90ths and stopped later because I'd lost the spirit to continue. If I would consider to write again and finish this, I have to change basically the whole surrounding stuff because the political and military circumstances and other accompanying things had entirely changed and mostly are not longer up to date. Not sure if its worth it, I stuck at nearly the half of the story…
Plus: The last thing I want is to get in touch with the actual (a)social medias from today just because its the only way to advertise or spread the info that someone had written something, no thanks.

I have seven in my drawers all written up. I've written a book for each of my kid, then I've written an overall guide book on how I managed not to kill them. Not a parenting guide, just a family tale collection.

Then there are my road trip diaries cleaned up and wrote up to explain their mom in different ages to them.

I adore writing, I'm not good enough to write a mystery novel or fantasy but I want my kids know me. Writing is my chosen art so they'll have some papers to cry and laugh at when I'm gone.

Hi, just hi.

Thank you for writing this. Thank you for sharing.

I have a kid with microtia, which was detected at birth mind you. We have gotten off so easy it is not even funny. I fall to pieces every time he has appointments since the first 2 years, he had a fucking dentist and ended up at the cardiologist. I got it, but I have huge issues with tech and information sharing now. These days I can't sleep for a week before and have nightmares for a month after one.

Anyway, as said it hits me hard still, as it will do for you. if at any point you want to chat, use my wall. If you want to scream or shout, please know I'm here for you.

...as would my book about working the night shift at a small town gas station when I was in school back in the 1980's. The chapter about how I sold three drunk girls for $18.50 would surely make it a best-seller.

Seriously though, people that I know from both my work and hobbies have asked me to write a book about my unusual abilities to get things done in volunteer organizations. Probably wouldn't cover the printing costs as a book, but I might be able to make it into a retirement gig traveling around the world teaching seminars to non-profits and volunteer groups as a consultant.....

I am very sorry to hear about your personal struggles with your son as well. Few know the pains of special needs and what is required, even fewer have a positive outlook after.

I truly appreciate that. We had great families (at the time) who provided tremendous support and certainly feel we are through the worst of it. I am thankful for your offer, and just may someday take you up on it, if nothing else to screen the book

I've written one - a suspense thriller. Summarizing it for submittal. Need to write some short stories to gain a social following. Wish I had more time. Just must make more time.

It’s not to easy to get published.

My was was a 4th grade teacher for 12 years before she stopped to raise our children. She also has a masters in early childhood development /education and reading.

She wrote a book to help kids and parents deal with all the issues she saw popping up year after year. It was written on a 4th grade level but intended for parents to read along with the kids and create the grounds for open conversation and the goal was for kids to get some coping skills and figure out how to overcome the Issue and for parents to get some advice on how to help their kids. You’d think it was commonsense but it’s not.

Spent some $ trying to get it published and never got any traction.

my son is now ten and still missing an ear, his jaw is growing wrong and he has zero heart issues. The only problem with the kid seen by anyone is the he inherited his dad's brain and sadly my quirky personality.

I have the perfect kid. Honestly. When ever we have a scheduled doctors appointment, I still die because I expect them to send us to more tests, them telling the kid I love more than anything isn't perfect!

He fucking is, just not in the eyes of everyone. And I get that the doctors can help him, hell, I'm completely in when it comes to helping him out to fix his issues.

Yeah, so I get it. Please remember that and absolutely use me when ever things get scary. They do.

I think you might be normal. Have you seen some of the books that are out there? Some of them were spawned by a bad Nyquil dream!

Thank you for sharing. It's kind of scary I would imagine for her to want to write as it would bring the pain bubbling back up. I think it helps at times even though it is hard as hell because you feel like you're reliving it. For some reason, this type of thing isn't talked about much but it's getting better. There are a lot of women who struggle silently that could benefit from your story.

I wish I could just speak, and a program would modify what I’m saying In a way that it could be written for a book to sell.

Self publishing for the win.

I've written several chapters about a traveling serial killer, with intimate details of the various locations I have lived in the US, things that only locals would know.
