Help Managing My Expectations

Following their respective website instructions, I've left two emails/website forms for two car brokers over a week ago and it's been radio silence from both. (One was a sponsor on this site.) I left the EXACT build/options for what I want, including noting "nice to haves" vs requirements. There was no doubt left to the reader of my submissions.

I would have minimally expected an auto response telling me to be patient or providing further instructions. But no, nothing. I even submitted a second website form for one broker. I'm literally ready to buy, with cash in hand.

This is my first foray into using auto brokers. I guess they enticed me in with promises of 8-10% off MSRP. But from what I've seen, perhaps it's just a fiction. Their claims of making the car buying experience easier and more enjoyable are, thus far, laughable.

Glad for those who had better experiences.

Sounds like you contacted two bad ones or their emails back to you are not getting through for some reason. Since you are so close you may want to do PCD so you could go with any broker or dealer. Maybe contact Dan at Next Level Auto Brokers and see if he can do anything for you.

Thanks for the response. Perhaps dumb question, but what's PCD?

Performance Center Delivery. You can pick it up at the factory and take advantage of the all day program they offer as well as a meal and night's stay at a hotel. There are some threads around describing the experience.

I think things are quiet because they are waiting on allocations. If you expect white glove service from your broker this game might not be for you.

I’ve gotten great deals on each of my vehicles but it’s rarely straight forward unless timing is perfect which isn’t always the case.

The allocations point is interesting and makes sense. As I mentioned, this is my first experience with trying to use a broker. Still figuring out how this all works.

As to "white glove service," I'm not sure how my desire for basic business practices surrounding communications (e.g. auto response regarding broker's timing) would be considered out of the ordinary. I certainly don't expect for a broker to drop everything and jump me in front of the line. A discussion surrounding society's acceptance of poor service standards and business practices is best left for another time and forum.

Let's see what July brings, I guess.

Allocations were issued this week, we had a member post yesterday that he got his for an August build.

One of the benefits of going with a broker is that they'll deal with dealers that have allocations -- or at least they should. That's one of the benefits of working with one. They're not wasting time talking with dealers that either don't have allocation or are fudging/lying about it. You should ask the broker that during the initial contact and then confirm it with the dealership when you're connected.

I would second the recommendation for Dan. He was completely responsive on email to me, and we also talked for 30 minutes on the phone. Within a couple of days of retaining him earlier in June, he connected me with a dealer with an allocation. After I put down a deposit with the dealer, the order was placed in mid-June. The initial production was supposed to be week 27 but got pushed back to week 29 (which is not the broker's or dealer's fault). Yesterday I just got my VIN and "Production Begins" notice. Fingers crossed, I should have it in a few weeks. Easy peasy. Try Dan.
