G05 Aftermarket Wheels
Depending on the website you visit there are either lots of choices or very few choices for the G05 X5. Adding to the confusion, some sites don't even list the current generation X5 as an option for "What Fits My Vehicle".
Here is one example: https://www.carid.com/hre-wheels/ff0...878603807.html They list a LOT of wheel choices including this wheel by HRE. Unfortunately the wheel is NOT approved by HRE to fit our vehicle. Here is an email response I received directly from HRE: "Thank you for sharing that link to that size. That size only fits Audi vehicles, while I understand that the width, diameter, offset, bolt pattern and hub bores do technically work for the X5, this goes back to your original statement about load rating. You’re correct in that these wheels are not SUV weight rated; hence, only available for the Audi sedans/coupes." Note that the CarID site lists that wheel as a "Guaranteed Fitment". Here is a running list of wheels which are actually suitable for the fully loaded, towing max capacity, G05 X5. Please feel free to add verified wheels. BBS: "I would suggest the SX0604 which is a 20x9 +30 ET. Those should work just fine on your X5. Warm regards,Kenneth Kitching Inside Sales" This wheel is the exact same mold, etc. as the BBS SX0603 which is tested and approved for the Audi Q7. The SX0604 has not been through the testing process and is therefore not load certified and Tire Rack will not sell it to you for the X5. They will sell the SX0603 and you can buy the Audi ball lug bolts to fit, M14x1.25 29mm. Enkei: As of the 2020 catalog nothing in their truck/SUV line fits. ONX: At least one member has used the ONX because it is available in 20x8.5 ET35 but it is not weight rated for X5/X6. "The ONX is an exciting addition to Enkei’s SUV/Crossover lineup. Using the design language of the popular Enkei CUV, we’ve created a sporty new option for owners of crossovers and small SUVs." XM-6: 20x8.5 ET40 HRE: Choices in their S- and P- Series, ~$2000+/wheel. See next post in this thread. Vossen: HF-1 in 20"+ works w/ M-Sport brakes. VFS1 larger than 20" may work- verify. The VFS1 may work in 20' without M-Sport brakes- verify. Last edited by Thumbs; 12-09-2019 at 07:21 AM.. |

From the fine folks at HRE:
"Thanks for sharing this with me. To clarify, the FF04 wheels CAN BE load rated for certain heavy/SUV applications. This specific fitment for the FF04 is not load rated for the X5, just in case people think that it’s not load rated across all fitments with the FF04. Here’s a complete list of styles that we can do for you that are SUV rated for your X5: 3-piece: Series S1 - https://www.hrewheels.com/wheels/series-s1/s101 Series S2 - https://www.hrewheels.com/wheels/series-s2/s200 Series S2H - https://www.hrewheels.com/wheels/series-s2h/s200h 540 (in 21” & 22”) - https://www.hrewheels.com/wheels/540-series/540 Series RS3 (in 21” & 22”) - https://www.hrewheels.com/wheels/series-rs3/rs300 1-piece: Series P1SC - https://www.hrewheels.com/wheels/series-p1sc/p101sc Series P1 - https://www.hrewheels.com/wheels/series-p1/p101 Series P2 - https://www.hrewheels.com/wheels/series-p2/p200 Series RS2M - https://www.hrewheels.com/wheels/series-rs2m/rs200m Series RS3M - https://www.hrewheels.com/wheels/series-rs3m/rs300m Series TR1 - https://www.hrewheels.com/wheels/series-tr1/tr105 Please let me know if you have any questions. And from the excellent rep at BBS:
"When Germany does load and stress testing for wheels, it is almost always for a specific application (ex. BMW X5 only). They test the wheels’ load based solely on that application, which is required by TUV. We have asked them to test the wheel and rate it for its full load capacity but they still do as they have done. In Europe, for high load applications, the vehicle must re-use factory hardware and be hub-centric. This is why we made the SX0603 – Made for Audi Q7. The SX0604 was more of a generic aftermarket wheel made for Audi A5, A7, and Q5. Both the SX0603 and SX0604 use the exact same casting mold. The only difference is the hub diameter (SX0603 milled to Audi exact – SX0604 milled to 82mm for multiple applications with use of PFS kit) and the lug holes (ball seat SX0603 vs. conical seat SX0604). So ultimately they technically have the same load but Germany didn’t “test” the SX0604 for as high as they tested the SX0603. Now, after some further investigation, you can use the SX0603 on the X5 (load rated and hub-centric) but with the use of 14x1.25 ball seat lug bolts. We do not offer them, but I have found a few vendors online that offer them." From Tucker at Tire Rack: "We don't carry the bolt required, but they tracked down one from a company called Bimecc (www.bimeccusa.com) that you can get. Their part number is S17F29R14." From me: That is an M14x1.25 29mm ball seat lug bolt. Note that the audi standard appears to be M14x1.5 NOT 1.25 |

Off the shelf cast wheels will be hit or miss. It's difficult to find a set that has a staggered setup with appropriate offsets and it's strong enough for a full size SUV. Just do a custom forged wheel and get exactly the size and finish you want with the highest level of strength. I went with BC forged in 22" and they are about half the weight of the OEM wheels and extremely strong. They also balanced very nicely

I just got these new wheels for my G05. They are called Beyern Ritz and are made for BMWs. The hub hole diameter is the same as the hub on the G05 which makes it "hub-centric" as opposed to most aftermarket wheels will be "lug-centric". Because of this, they do not need hub rings and fit the vehicle perfectly. Also, since they are made for BMWs they accept the oem BMW center caps. Rides as perfectly as the stock wheels but they are much lighter. I also went with black grill and installed it this am.

Most companies claim a fit of their wheels because they are using a larger hub size and then fitting hub centric rings to centralise the wheel. The Lug bolts take the weight. You need the correct hub size of 66.6mm to be hub centric so it is an OEM wheel. There are few brands out there but not a massive choice 66.6 mm hub as they are then limited what cars they can use them on And thus limiting their market. These are 20 inch aftermarket OEM with Grabber AT3 for winter use. Only £250 uk per wheel plus £160 per tyre.

Very nice mods: Wheels and Grill look great!
I have the Black Grill and am waiting to install in the Spring and am currently researching / shopping for new 21" or 22" wheels in Black. Nice choice on wheels. I will consider Bayern as well as Rohana and Brixton Forged among anything else that looks good and is in my $2-$3,000 wheels budget. Tires are separate. Anyone with any other choices that I should consider, please respond and let me know. Thanks and Congrats! |

The reference to HRE being 2K a wheel, that's more likely to be $2,500 to 3K per wheel with a 22" sizing. Custom forged wheels are just expensive...no way to get around it. The quality is over the top - you really do get what you pay for in these high end wheel options. |

![]() Looks like 24" rims will leave 69mm = 2.7in of sidewall on there. Stock 22" is 96mm = 3.8in. So an inch less of rubber, which obviously makes sense (2" increase in rim diameter means needs 1" decrease in sidewall height to stay close to overall diameter).
