Good luck. Probably the DMTL - Diagnostic Module for Tank Leaks.

Posting data below. While overall great, like KT_OH last week during the freeze got a cell that had went away. Actually happened twice, and after checking gas cap etc to be sure when cold we clicked it fully etc, all cleared after a couple of key cycles and a gas drive
I would be inclined to score that as no issue as similar to what I have seen on other cars on emissions style gas cap temp cell, but since happened to two of us in the cold snap, figured I would call it out. Great car and perhaps one of the lucky ones here since pickup. 1) researched the forum heavily prior to purchase 2) cell that self cleared after running engine for short period during cold 3) no trip to the dealer, although had called to schedule and cancelled after it cleared Turtleboy thanks for pulling this together |

I've been holding off replying but will speak up now.
I've been on the forum on and off for over a decade. My 50e is a week 44 build from '23 that now has 4040 miles that are probably 75% ICE, 25% all electric. I had one CEL for a code P0CEF. I believe that is a CCU temperature sensor that is considered out-of-range. It came up the morning after sitting out and charging some during -16F temps. I talked with the dealer who was very responsive but circumstances didn't allow me to bring it in. After a week of 100% normal performance (including a 600 mile trip) the CEL light turned off on its own. The car has not been back to the dealer since delivery. I also had one episode of glitchy iDrive behavior but a system reset resolved it 100%. At the risk of getting shot down... TurtleBoy shouldn't the %age "went to dealer" be subset of the number who "had an issue"? This would be 69% not 30%, since only those who had an issue would have gone to the dealer?

My aim was to show what percentage of 50e's had an issue and what percentage of 50e's had an issue that caused the owner to go to the dealer. As we have seen, many get a CEL or other error and ignore it and it goes away. To me the percentage who have taken it to the dealer is the more important of the two.

Joined after getting 1st CEL. CEL turned on 5 times and it's dropped off to dealership each time. Replaced refrigerant valve at 1st visit. Reprogrammed software, cleared error code and reset CEL during the other visits.

I’m not an 50e owner. Went into dealership today to order a 40i. Sales advisor and I were discussing the 50e, and he told me they’re doing a buyback of a “nightmare” 50e, and the owner has ordered another 50e. FWIW. Also, Spartanburg deliveries are overbooked, and may not be readily available for a while.

They said it was voluntary and BMW rec'd enough vehicles in for checks thru the end of 2023 to confirm there was not an issue. Not sure I buy it, but will see what the invoice says they did when I pick it up this afternoon. For the CEL, they mentioned cold weather and grill shutters + issues with fuel mixture in low temps throwing off a sensor. Again, will see what they actually did when I pick it up. Lastly, the software OTA update downloaded to my car last night. I asked them to install since it was already downloaded. Will see if they do that as well. |

Week 25 Build Issues as of Feb. 1 2024
I started reading the forum extensively before ordering, but did not join until shortly after delivery on June, 26 2023. Aside from accomplishing the knee airbag recall, my 50e had no issues until September at 2629 miles.
1. Drivetrain Malfunction where car could not be moved and had to be trucked to the dealership. This was traced to a defective CCU which was replaced approximately three weeks later. 2. In early January, I got a service light (wrench symbol) with Drivetrain and High Voltage messages which disappeared after restarting at the dealer. The test plan stated that there was updated software to correct the issue and vehicle programming was performed. 3. On January 24, the Drivetrain Malfunction returned, but this time I was able to restart the vehicle. As before, various erroneous faults were present. After opening a TSARA case, BMW instructed the technician to reprogram, manually select all modules, the send vehicle on three drive cycles with three sleep cycles. Battery was drained on each occasion. I got the vehicle back on January 30, and have only driven a few miles since. This has been mitigated somewhat by living in extremely close proximity to the dealer, and having no problems getting loaners, so I’ve had extensive test drives of the iX in two cases. I’ll refer to this post in the other related threads. I’m familiar with the Pennsylvania Lemon Law just in case. |

Unrelated though - for the first time ever they rotated the tires. They never did for my prior X5, but I always did for every other car I owned. The set eat tire to 39PSI for whatever reason though. I guess their logic is front is over inflated by an equal and offsetting amount that the rear is underinflated |

You are likely giving them way too much credit in thinking they used logic in the inflation process.

They probably hit "Install Upgrade" and went off to inflate the tires...

Yes, every time I visit dealers the tire pressure is almost always off from what it's supposed to be. Whatever valet happens to be working just puts whatever random PSI they want. I've had severely under-inflated and over-inflated tires and everything in between.

Joined yesterday (02/03/24) This is our 4th BMW but first X5 which we took delivery on 22nd Dec.2023 and:
1) Whether or not you have had an issue with your 50e? Have had 2 CEL issues with just <300 miles run. If you had an issue(s), what was it? 1st time found fault in SME system time malfunction. So they cleared faults after following the advanced information for this issue. (I have no idea what that meant) And this time as the vehicle sits at the service center right now, the initial finding from the key fob said battery issue. I guess we will be told more tomorrow. If you had an issue(s), did you go to the dealer. Yes. |
