HVAC use can affect electric range, heat > cold. how’s your electric range in the winter with the heater going?

I’m in southeastern Virginia. our summers have plenty of days over 95°F, but I’ve never received an overheated HV battery message. I use the AC daily set to Auto 74° and light fan speed. if you’re concerned, doesn’t hurt to schedule a service visit to get it on record
I drive the same route every day (school and back). Used to get 40 miles easily. Now with the hotter weather, it's severely reduced to 25-30 miles. AC on in both scenarios.

The service department opened a technical case with BMW (required to for hybrid and electric drivetrain errors). The field engineer asked them to order and replace the “safety box” that’s part of the high-voltage system.

Sounds expected given the negative contactor error, etc.

The parts 5-7 days out and in a loaner till then.

Final update:

Got the X5 back after nearly a month. The only thing that was replaced was the high voltage safety box. Everything’s fine now.

What does “safety” box mean?

Part number: 61-27-8-844-217

Entry in service record: "Saftey Box:612511" (aside from part number) - the word Safety is misspelt both in my service record and in the link above ("Other names:" entry).
