Changing from 19" to 21"

Do you guys do a realignment when changing tire sizes?

Not required just for a change in wheel sizes.

I would hope you are keeping the same rolling radius (i.e 275/40/21 front and 315/35/21 rear tyre, to keep the total diameter the same as before)

I find alignment at the dealership a good value. Also more convenient if in for some service.

I align maybe once every 2 years. Earlier of course if I sense something off. Roads here in CT are rough.

You need a breaker bar and 17 mm socket to undo. Same socket with torque wrench to do up. No power tools at all. My car came with nothing except the inflatable gunk compressor as i have no spare,as 7 seaters dont get one. Just buy on amazon.

I do things manually and use these. I also carry these in the car.

I might start rotating my tires myself. Does anyone know if there is a central jackpoint to raise a side of the car to rotate?

I put hydraulic lifts under both side lift points at the same time. I never trust just one anyway but that allows one full side to get up in the air for swapping front to rear, rear to front. Before jacking it up, I use the breaker bar to loosen the lugs, once the tires are up off the ground a half inch, I remove the lugs and pull the tires. Then the inside of the wheels get a good cleaning and wax before reinstalling them.

I have 20" Pirelli Scorpion Zero all season tires. To the best of what I can see there is no writing on them that says "rotation" or "direction". Does that mean I swap R rear to L front etc as opposed to same side swap?

Confirm rim width. My winter set for f86 has same tires, but 1/2 wider rear rims. Can't rotate. Can't recall our g05 set widths. Might be same which creates a slight rear width increase.

All of my rims are the same as they are aftermarket Beyern wheels.

Also, I only have 1 floor jack and 4 jack stands. If I raise a corner with the floor jack at the jack-point, where can I put a jack stand to keep it up while I go to the next corner? Possibly the axle?

Right, that's the issue when you only have one floor jack but you can buy another one instead of finding another spot to put the jack stand. Today's cars aren't like the I-beam cars of yesterday where you could put the jack stand in one of several places. You don’t need to buy a roll around hydraulic floor jack, just get yourself one or two of these.

When I jack up my cars with my hydraulic roll around floor jack, I can put it under the front lift point and lift it up far enough that it takes the same side rear up a few inches and that alone can be enough to get this hydraulic jack stand under the rear jacking point. Once its under it, you then use the hydraulic cylinder to lift the rear to the point where the rear tire is off the ground. Works great. Just Google hydraulic jack stand, there are a few to choose from. I got mine at Tractor Supply a number of years ago.

Here is another idea I just ran across, looks pretty simple but I'm just not sure I want to trust those welds

Im sorry. Im still not clear as to if any other area except the jack points can be lifted.

I have 4 jack stands, 1 floor jack and 1 hydraulic jack.

Is it possible to lift with the jack anywhere but the jack point and then put jack stands under the jack points til the whole car is off the ground so I can do a R rear to L front type rotation??

Its not recommended by BMW, if you do it, you're doing it at your own risk. BMW only recommends jacking at the jacking points. I think you can see why when looking at these pix of the G05.

Who knew? Anyone want to buy a couple of hydraulic floor jacks, looks like I won't be needing them anymore.
