Here are some pics of what I mean. I had to slide the mat back as to not obstruct the cover door. I guess it's not such a big deal to move it when you retract it.

I don't blame you. I questioned the mat at the beginning because it defeats the purpose of the rubber rails rising to grip the load. My wife had me order it.

Just received and I can confirm. Higher quality than the majority of Audi OEM accessories (and that's not a great compliment), but definitely not the equal of BMW's earlier mats. Relatively thin by comparison, with some sort of fabric border sewn around the edges, which sort of defeats the purpose of the durability of thicker rubber/plastic. It looks like it will work with the Luggage Package, but will look at WeatherTech's offering if they ever make one. I can say at this point that it's overpriced for what you get.

FWIW, I accessed the lower storage compartment yesterday for the first time since getting the BMW cargo liner and had no rubbing issues nor issues with it going back into place when I closed the hatch. Went in 3 or 4 times with no issue. Small sample size, but thought I'd mention.

I'm a fan of weathertech as well and have been using the floor liner style since they came out with them years ago. I have the luggage package which stores the cover in the floor but am considering the full coverage cargo for the 90% that it's not being stored. Anyone using mats with the luggage package?

Will the BMW OEM cargo mat work in my X5 with the 3rd row seats folded flat and no luggage compartment? If so I would also get the one specific for when the 3rd is in use.
