I have the 11/2019 software (delivered March 16). To correct the issue i followed the below instructions - I place the X5 in reverse, select drive, press the forward camera icon. Now when I reverse, the left screen shows the rear, in drive it moves to the overhead front view. Perfect. Thank you

My god, you guys.
There is so much fuss about the switching issue.
here's what I do. When I know I will have to dance with front and back to get in or out of a tight spot, I just rotate the idrive controller and select (A) and there you go problem solved. In some cases where I dont need the cameras to switch I just dont care to rotate the controller.

I feel this is the best way where you dont have to do multiple clicks to change settings based on your scenario. Just rotate the controller to select A or dont based on your situation.
Isnt that simple?

I agree. My 2014 x5 switched automatically in that scenario. I can't believe BMW changed that feature.

Same problems with my car...I have to press the button 5x and it doesnt change to front view when I put it in D ...annoying
