Have just started a Season 5 Crusader. Made it to Lvl 30 in about an hour by upping the difficulty from start and playing adv. mode.

Went with Crusader because that's the set I'm most interested in getting at this point...

Just picked this up for the PS4, any advice for getting started? It seems like mods are rampant, so is there any way to avoid that?

Only way to ensure that you don't fall victim to the mods is to play only in private lobbies. Modded lobbies are just to prevalent, and you're sure to end up in one sooner or later.

On another note, how do you guys like patch 2.4? I haven't played in a while. Is it worth checking out the new content?

Dunno how they made it for consoles, but for PC Im quite pleased, at the end its every season the same as ya know.
Major changes ingame are the massacre bonus counts no longer for the kill of a specific amount of monsters at once but starts increasing XP boost in accordance for the total killed monsters in a defined timeframe. Furthermore if you destroy some inventory and come above 7 each, you'll get a timebonus up to 1 minute where you could move quicker, like a boost for moving.
Few new gemstones, monsters and men^^
The rift maps had grown, it took more time to pass through.

Thanks for the info, so I guess it is either play offline or private lobby then? I wonder if it is even worth playing then.

You can always find groups to play with on reddit or a forum. Really though, PC/Mac is the way to go though. I believe the console features are somewhat limited as well, but not sure if that's still the case. It's a fun game if you can stand the endless grind

lol I can just powerlevel you if you want. Lvl 70 in about 5 minutes.

For those who need extremely cheated chars?
If you want it for real, use the gem of ease and the hellfire items. That should be a duration up to 70 within 2,5 hours. More time but legal, no?

Yeah. That's what I did for my Wiz. And of course it's "legal".

Hellfire amulet has no level requirement and this is what the gem of ease is designed for!

cheating? What are you talking about, its perfectly fine to get power leveled. Its for those who dont want to waste their time going from 1 to 70 and have already beat the game.

You can plvl a lot faster than that
The game has been an inflated numbers game
It was better around 1.08 with monster power and the first ubers iteration

C'mon guys...5 mins? Thats the way into act 1 from start to the tavern or a started bounty whatever. Whats the trick? I got gem of ease on lvl36 and the hellfire ring and amulet on and had made it to 60 within 48 mins onto bounty...but you did obviously heavy other stuff.
