car play doesn't matter since apple is in the minority for phone usage globally. Android Auto would be better, even so I'd rather just use idrive 90% of the time. Some CP issues are on Apples end, others fall to BMW

No DHP does not include air but I was talking about air + DHP. But since you ask, DHP has added float in some past BMW configurations even together with adaptive dampers and steel springs. The active roll bars stiffen up in corners to reduce body roll but they also almost fully decouple when going straight which can induce a floaty feel, more so than a car with the standard passive roll bars. My E60 with ARS + passive sport dampers and stiff steel springs was fantastic while my F10 with DHP ( including ARS, soft springs and active dampers ) was floaty and rather terrible.

Snippet from active roll bars description:

“This set up improves driving comfort by having the sway bar disconnected when it is not needed, and providing very strong anti-roll dynamics when cornering.”

I am clearly not going to advocate wasting any time on CarPlay, mine is off permanently never to be touched ever again on both the X5 and the iPhone, but ... while Android is dominant in global numbers, Bimmers are upscale and correlate very highly with iPhone usage. I would be surprised if less than 80% of BMW drivers are iPhones, but there is probably no way for us mere mortals to check on that assertion.

I'd imagine they are trying to shoot for Trawkhawk 0-60 times, but unlike the Trackhawk, cornering abilities are added!

I noticed MB just announced the GLE580 and bringing back the V8 to the non-AMG lineup.

You can take it a step further and include the Urus. Or a step back and say who needs to pay more for a BMW when you can get a Ford equivalent for less.

I haven't owned an iPhone since 2012 because as an engineer I prefer the ability to customize my UE (user experience). Call me crazy or whatever but I don't consider Apple products to be a status symbol. I currently own a Ceramic White S10+ ($1200) and a Nebule Blue OnePlus 7 Pro ($750 my new favorite phone) so while one isn't inexpensive I still don't view them as far as of luxury. When I see people using more unique devices like the OP (I know a few people on here own them) I have respect because I know that person isn't your average Joe to be buying such a phone. A few friends and I used to modify AOSP and write custom ROMs back in the day for Nexus Phones (now the Pixel line) so to me I put more value in versatility than anything else.

anyway enough of half awake rant for me

I'm hoping software bugs get worked out like everyone else, even so I love my X5

Could be wrong, but Car and Driver makes it sound like they will have the 50i and M50i models sold together?

Has anybody seen pics yet of the new X5 and X7 M50i front ends? The press releases all talk about the new front end body kit with larger and more aggressive openings, but all the pics shown so far of either of the cars are just of the side and rear.

I'd like to know this as well...can't wait to order. Does anyone know what approx date ordering can occur?

So does the BMW Blog. We got a press release and a lot of speculation at this point. It’s going to be awhile until the full details play out in real time.
One thing for sure, BMW already owns this category so it’s all gravy from this point on.

https://www.bmwblog.com/2019/05/22/w...upercar-power/

CarBlog also reports these models are a addition to the line up.

”These new M50i variants of the X5 and X7 both seem like excellent additions to their respective model lineups, but there is a downside. The V8-powered X5 50i and X7 50i were already rather expensive at $75,750 and $92,600 respectively, but these new M50i variants start at $82,150 for the X5 and $99,600 for the X7. With a $995 destination charge, the X7 M50i will cost well over $100,000 before even factoring in options. If you believe this performance upgrade is worth the $7,000 price premium, you'll be happy to know production is set to begin on August 2019 at BMW's plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina.”

End of June, the first of July. Production will more than likely begin the last week of July.

Well now I know for sure that I will be getting the 2020 M50i once my 2019 X5 XDrive40i M-Sport buyback is complete. Can't wait to see what the lease options look like.

I just finalized a deal today for a 2019 X5 50i @ 91.5K MSRP with 11% discounts and now I am doubting the decision. 50I w/ MSport package and M Brakes is $80,200 which is very close to the M50i. We don't know pricing but do we have an idea if BMW will discounts? I could shave an option to get into m50I if the dealer will discount it the same.

Given the M50i will also include as standard wireless charging & Wifi hotspot, the difference in MSRP between a 2019 50i with Msport with M brakes and a 2020 M50i will only be around $2000. I think it is absolutely a easy decision to wait on a M50i. Even more so if you buy - the 2019 is going to take a big hit in value down the road due to the much improved M50i one year later.

Depends. 11% MSRP isn't difficult right now. What will the discount be when the new M50I comes out?

The model pipeline only shows the 40i for the G05:

2020 G05 X5
- sDrive40i (B58TÜ, 335hp)

2020 F95 X5 M
