Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Would be replacing wife's 2020 40i M Sport. Her current 40i has everything but DHP and B&W audio. That includes individual Silverstone on multi contour, full leather dash, driver assist pro with traffic jam, sky lounge sunroof, parking assist, glass controls, 22" wheels, Phytonic Blue, etc.. 81k in 2020. Would just configure a new 40i same way as I love the b58, but they are missing key items or leather and the multi contour seats, which are deal breakers for my wife. No leather? Seriously BMW? Colors also seem limited. I configured one best I could for 80k or so. A 50i is more similar to her current spec except for the engine of course. She doesn't need the v8, hates the seats in my f95, doesn't appreciate loud exhaust, and LOVES 🫤 the glass shifter. Bodes poorly for 50i. -go for the m50i, keep it in comfort and let the carbon build up on the intake valves as the car will never see WOT? -wait for leather and seats come back to 40i? -get a RR Sport? (Kidding)

If you don't need the vehicle right away just wait until the leather and luxury seating comes back. I don't think she would be happy with the M50i. You may also want to consider the 45e since you can get the leather and seats and it comes with air suspension as standard.

As to carbon build up, it isn't related to WOT. It is related to DI. B58 has it too. They are just too new, not enough build up to cause issue yet. 7-10 years, they all need walnet blasting.

I have m50i on order with bowers/ dynamic . Do I need the v8 ….. no this is for the wife. I would order a 40i in a heartbeat if it had all of the options . But that is not an option so m50i it is . |

The TT 4.4L V8 in the M50i is magnificient in everyday use and the M50i comes with a nice list of other standard features. You can't go wrong with this choice.

Good idea about the 45e. I'll take a peek. I think you are right about the m50i. She prefers style elements and comfort over performance.

No 45e around here (CT) and don't think one can be built by YE.
Looks like we'll check out the m50i. I have one local and loaded up with Vernasca leather. Maybe those seats aren't as aggressive as the ones in my x5m.

Do you need the space of the X5? X6 has less trunk space but you can still get the leather, multi-contoured seats, executive package for the led sky lounge, glass control, laser lights and all the usual packages like DAP and Parking Assist. Plus has the same engine.

Must be a used or leftover M50i, Vernasca is not available for MY23.

The M50i seats base bolsters are much milder than those in the X5MC. M50i has seats that are a nice blend of comfort and support with a good deal of adjustability. The X5MC seats are a bit overdone in the lateral base area for an SUV. I've got a good bit of time in those seats and can tell you that it is quite easy to smash your nuts getting out of them but I am sure you are already aware of that surprise. They sure look cool as does the rest of the full blown M and MC.
