STATUS: IN TRANSIT for Last 3 weeks

Hey Guys,

Tracking my X5 40i on mygarage.bmwusa.com and it shows STATUS: IN TRANSIT for the last 3 weeks or so.

Is it normal? From the port to the dealer on the west coast why it's is showing IN TRANSIT for the last 3 weeks?

Do I need to be concern about this?

I read on another site that it could take 3 weeks for West Coast deliveries. You might want to call your CA and ask - they would have that information.

Yes, emailed CA as well. From the screenshot, it appears it's still on the rail.

Rail transport across the country is real slow. BMW SAV's have been going through Kansas City, which is always a huge bottleneck for rail traffic. Also for deliveries to the SoCal area, all US built SAV's are off loaded at San Bernardino, instead of the VPC in Oxnard. Then Sierra Mountain Express (SME) will truck the vehicle to the dealer. I also understand SME has been real slow in getting the vehicle to the dealerships.

I'm waiting for mine, too. My car arrived at the South Carolina VPC on Oct. 19, and finally left the Richmond, CA, VPC on the 9th, in transit to the dealer still in northern CA. So, it's been 3.5 weeks and still not at the dealer. I'm hoping I can get it this weekend. We'll see. I ordered my car 8/31.

Inspect the roof rails when you get your car! My car has two huge dents with paint transfer from whatever smacked it. I think it was damaged from the delivery/transport truck. I found the dents at home after I've already taken delivery. I've reached out to the dealer and I hope they will take care of it by replacing the rails for me.

Sorry to hear that. Thanks for the head's-up. I'll do that. I just saw that today it has arrived at the dealership!

That's sucks on a brand new car.

Can you post picture of where the damage was?

Yeah, I am very bummed. Definitely an oversight on my part and the dealership. But honestly, who the hell is going to inspect the roof of an SUV?? I mean unless you're over 6'5".

If I were you I will talk to GM and asked why the hell this was not caught during PDI. <Pissed>

The factory ship the cars with a white film on the roof, hood, and door. Whoever fucking removed the white film didn't report the damage on the PDI report and not care to fix it before delivery.

Take it back to the dealer and ask them to fix it on high priority. I know they can argue it was not done before delivery.

I spoke with the sales manager and they ordered me new rails. If they didn't order me new rails, I would have been pissed.

Lol I'm one of the few who probably is hoping for a 3+ week delay on delivery. I'm not eligible for the PenFed incentive until a couple weeks into December so I'm hoping it doesn't arrive until close to then. It's awaiting carrier assignment now. Production started a week earlier than I thought it would. Luckily, my CA is aware and doesn't seem overly concerned. The $500 can pay for my car charger.

You can always tell your CA that you don't want to take delivery till December. It's your order.

I'm also anxiously waiting. I originally ordered the 2020 X6 50i in March but it was canceled due to factory being closed so my order became a 2021. It was finished production on Oct 30 and still in transit to Socal. My CA told me it should be in Oxnard Nov 20. He still doesn't see it on his system, this is super frustrating

Once the car arrived at Richmond, how long did it take to get to your dealership?
