Talking 45e ordered - Spartanburg Holiday Closure?

Hi Guys,

My build week is 49 and the production of my 45e started on November 13th. Reading though the forum here, I see that most of you guys have your X5 40i/45e produced in just 2 weeks or less.

I called the BMW automated phone service and it said that the estimated completion date is actually December 3rd, which makes it almost 3 weeks of production time. Is this because that they will shut down the Spartanburg factory for Thanksgiving from November 26th-29th? Or BMW is simply giving a very conservative estimate?

I am in Boise Idaho so I'm also expecting a long shipping time. I really wish to take delivery before Christmas.

Any thoughts or similar experiences? Thank you guys in advance!

That all looks normal to me. There is no 2 or 3 week production time, the actual production takes a few hours. How much time it takes from when the order is done, a VIN assigned and the actual production date is all dependent on when the dealer's allocation is scheduled. Some dealers take orders without having an allocation so that could mean months in some instances. In other instances it can be a week.

Congratulations on your order. Good luck, enjoy and be safe.

Thanks! I think I should have been clearer on my statements - yeah you are right, no 2 or 3 week production time. I was referring to the time from when "production begins" to "ready for transport". Looks like most of people have 2 weeks or less for that period.

Yes and that is exactly what I was referring to. That periods varies. For example. my order was taken on a Thursday, went to production begins the following Monday and was actually built over 3 weeks later. Recently a member here went from order to delivery in about two weeks. There is no "normal" time.
