Tire Pressure Specs...Confused!
Hi all. I have a 2023 X5 M50i running the 22" staggered wheels on Continental Contact 6 Summers. Door jamb label has the fronts at 39PSI and rears at 45PSI. I go to iDrive and it has 40PSI and 46PSI for the <100MPH recommended settings. Also, iDrive only seems to have the 315 sized tires available as an option vs. the staggered setup. Anyone figure this out? Could really use someone's help that really knows the right spec and why iDrive isn't in synch with the door jamb label. Appreciate it very much!

the door jamb is traditional cold tire pressures. iDrive TPMS is dynamic tire pressures based on temperature, load, etc.
at first, I was chasing TPMS pressures, but someone told me I shouldn’t really have to and recommended just inflate cold tires to the pressures on the door jamb. as you drive, you will find the actual pressures will tend to match TPMS recommended pressures. I just travelled 700 miles and noted my tires were 1-2psi below TPMS pressures, so I left them alone. only you can decide how much/if you want to adjust tire pressures accordingly as we did before TPMS existed regarding TPMS tire size selection, it only asks for the rear tire size as it knows what the corresponding front tire sizes should be. it knows based on your 22” rears that you have a staggered setup as that it how it is configured at the factory |
