X5 xDrive40i - 1/28 Order finalized [2/18 Update: Reached Dealer]
First of all I really need to thank many many people on this forum who helped me either directly through their responses or indirectly through their posts. It is because of you all that I went well prepared and was able to hold my ground while negotiating with 3 dealers today with one face to face and the other two on phone.
Specs: XDrive40i, xLine, Dark Graphite, 21” style 744 performance RF, Driving Assist Prof, Luxury Package, Park Assist Package, Premium Package, 2-axle AS, HK sound, Glass controls, Acoustic Glass, LED+Laser headlights. Total Price MSRP : $76,970 (includes destination handling) Discounts on MSRP : $8000 Current vehicle lease : 3 payments left. Dealer agrees to give fund the remaining 3 payments ( $2289 ) in addition above. I am told I can keep driving the current sedan until end of lease even after X5 arrives. So effective discount : $ 8000 + $2290 = $ 10,290 My X5 effective price : $ 66,680 They will run my credit tomorrow and give me various financing options. But it appears that if I go through BMW FS there might be some additional rebate. I just need to see how the APRs are with respect to other banks. Typically what rebates do you see with BMW FS loans? I dont think I can push any further but wanted to check your views before I put ink on the paper. Thanks all. Update Order Placed 1/28 : Completed final negotiations and placed order. https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1&postcount=11 Order Status : 1/28 : 111 - Order Received 1/28 : 112 - Scheduled for Production 1/31 : 150 - Production Started, VIN assigned 2/10 : Estimated completion date advanced from 2/14 to 2/12 2/12 : Quality check (10am ish) 2/12 : Awaiting carrier assignment (1pm ish) 2/13 : Vehicle on ramp to be picked up by United Road Services, Greer Terminal 2/14 : Greer Terminal pickup confirmed, in-transit. 2/18 : Dealer called - they received the car. BMW mygarage tracking is so f'ed up I tell you. Since 2/15 mygarage shows Arrived at the Dealer. lol Delivery planned for 2/19. Last edited by araje; 02-18-2020 at 03:22 PM.. Don’t know how sales tax is calculated in your state however you might be better having dealer increase discount $2290 vs making your final three lease payments. Lowering your net price may lower your sales tax. My theory is you push until they say “no”. Good luck. |

Thank you. That is very helpful. Let me check on that tomorrow.
In the meanwhile, I had a word with the SA today again and he clarified that the 8K discount includes BMW loyalty bonus. I told him that the loyalty bonus comes from BMW and not him so I would expect that to be over the 8K. But he said that is not possible. I may have to try what you suggested below. People in the group talk about conquest in addition to BMWFS rebate. I wasnt able to get much info about it. I am having a discussion with finance tomorrow. Any info will be helpful. Thanks. Quote:

Dealer discounts vary by region, model, local market, dealership, salesperson and moon phases. Their is no precise dealer discount %'age. I considered anything over 8% "reasonable" and 10-13% "acceptable". However this was market and time period (December) I was working within and initially most dealers came back at 5-6%. It was only when I indicated I intended to finalize a transaction immediately did we approach 10%+ range. |

Is the 2750 from dealer or from BMWFS because you are financing from them. ?

9.5% within range of typical discount. Nice job. Slightly more possible if you want to shop around but 9.5% is fair.

Final negotiations update on my case:
Thanks RVAGuy. I was able to convince the dealer to add the 2290 to my 8K discount. So finally this gave me 10290 off MSRP which as you said brought down license/registration and sales taxes further. I feel there could have been a little more scope because this includes my loyalty bonus which I wish I knew earlier. Anyways, I think I am happy since other 2 dealers were NO WHERE close to this offer mainly because I was doing a custom build. Order punched in today !! Quote:

What's your % off BEFORE incentives? It's much clearer to determine that way since some lease vs. finance, some have loyalty whereas some do not, and sDrive vs. xDrive also makes a difference in terms of incentive amount. If you want to compare apples to apples, always look at the % discount off MSRP before any incentives are applied. My take so far is that the average "fair" deal here seems to be about 8-9%, the "good deal" range seems to be about 9-10%, followed by 10-11% being a "very good deal," and anything more than 11% being a "great deal."

However for me the feel good factor is looking at how much the msrp came down in total for my specific calculations. I am at 9.4% based on above but overall 13.5% for my financial consideration. Amsa7151 - is your build or from inventory? |

I got mine on a build in December. At the time I was doing my research, others were getting 11 and 12 it seemed like but never know. Also the interesting thing is you get taxed on the incentives so you have to remember that.

The way I see my paperwork, the MSRP goes down by your negotiated rebates/incentives + discounts called as final price of vehicle. and then the title registration and sales tax is on this final price. |

So for example it would be: $70,000 MSRP -7000 discount -2500 manufacturer rebates -499 dealer fees ___________ 60,001 is taxable amount ?
