Good to know! That's why I'm ordering with the illuminated grille. Easier to go from illuminated to gloss black vs the other way. Maybe I'll be the first with an illuminated gloss black!

Anyone know if this can be retrofitted or is the wiring simply not there. I have a late 19 build without the lit grille.

I don't think it is officially available for the X5, I think its X6 only. And even then, the wiring isn't there if the car didn't have it fitted from the factory.

The X5 has a different grille, and as BMW don't make an illuminated X5 grille (I don't think), you would need to go custom - someone on this forum had an illuminated grille custom made for his X5.
