What size box was that? The XL? How does it sound? I'm going to pull the trigger on a box very soon. Couldn't decide between the L or XL and opted for the XL b/c I'd rather have too much space vs not enough.

Xl. If you go under 80 it's fine.

I wanted to bump this thread. Any more of you add racks to your rig? if so pics, and input on wind noise. Im debating on going with the OEM racks bc they are silver and I want gloss black. We had a customer spray his gloss black but they seem to be pilling already so I dont want to deal with that. the thule look nice but would love to see some more pics of them on rides

Here's my setup with the Thule AeroBLade and Motion XT large. Took it on a 6 hour road trip 2 weeks ago. Definitely some wind noise going above 60 but not the kind that drives you nuts - no whistling or anything like that. I was very happy with this setup.

I use Whispbar Flushbar and smartfoot kit K670 that I moved over from my F15 with zero issues. Minimal to no wind noise unless my bike is mounted up there.

that looks sharp, I have the same color X5. As long as the wind noise/whistling isn't over the top I think the radio would drown it out for the most part correct?

Yes. I'm very sensitive to noises like that and it didn't wear on my nerves for the 6 hour drive that I had. Granted I had a 5 year old and a 14 month old so maybe I was distracted by them. I can put it this way. I asked my wife if that noise bothered her and she said what noise. Then when I pointed it out she said oh that noise.. No that's OK. I think the average person driving the average car would just think it's typical road noise when going 70+mph.

Yes correct. I believe Yakima discontinued the Whispbar name in the US and now markets the same bars as Yakima Flushbar.

I think im going to throw the OEM racks on there this week and see how they go. I am leaning towards the Thule bc they come in black but ill have to look at the Yakima also. Surprised how much these things cost! OEM ones i can run through our store but I'm anal when it comes to stuff matching and the silver just doesn't sit well with me when the trim is gloss black

I am in the same boat... Trying to decide on OEM or Thule. Let me know how the OEM look with the gloss black rails.

I added the OEM ones last night on my new ride. ZERO noise from my end. Ill post some pics of my ride and racks soon, maybe tomorrow, just have not had time yet but the OEM looks great on the car, good shape and the silver doesn't look bad at all!

Any reasons why you went with the large size box instead of the xl size? Does it block or hit the hatch when opening?

Good to know! Thanks!

I guess the color doesn't matter since the wife literally saw me reading this thread and made a comment about the racks not staying on top of the car when they're not in use.

they are roof racks.....purpose served. I am not a fan of driving around with racks on especially when they take 2 minutes to put on and take off. looks good.

I wanted XL but they didn't have any inventory in gloss black so got large.
