X5M Marina Bay Blue - ORDERED! (UK) - Gulp!
Hi all,
just had to get this off my chest ... after much umming and aahhing, to-ing and fro-ing, agonising, rationalising, justifying, mind-changing, flip-flopping (you get the picture), I've decided to take the plunge ... The 2020 X5M in Marina Bay Blue is on order, set for a March / April 2020 delivery. Extras are: Pano sunroof Piano black interior Tinted windows More details to follow, but as I'm like a kid on Xmas eve i wanted to get this news out there! (Although, trying to not think about price, and thinking how much more a Cayenne Turbo / Urus / Bentayga / Cullinan would be!)

That will be beautiful and I must say a hell of a ride! Enjoy the wait, it's half the fun.
That VAT! Gulp. Someone's gotta do their part to keep the Queen in the lifestyle for which she's accustom.

Yes, UK VAT is a killer @20% (i think it's 6% in Florida!). And, no tax reclaim at all for cars (unlike vans / some pick-ups) for a business (I'm a tax accountant). Not much info out there at the moment about the X5M other than the BMW videos, but will be keeping an eye out for new info, reviews, etc. Slightly nervous about the bright blue, rather than my usual more under-stated Arctic Grey or some shade of black, but the Marina Bay Blue is easier to live with than the Long Beach Blue (which for me was more a turquoise).

I paid cash for the X5 40i but decided to keep that as my wife's car, and trade in her X3 and lease the new X5M (I'm nervous about residuals on the X5M). Dealer has offered £7k towards the lease, and decent rate on the finance. I can switch it around and trade in the X5 40i if the financing isn't great, but as the title of the thread suggests (GULP!) this is a financial decision that is definitely NOT taken with my tax accountant hat on!

Congrats on the car!
Holy $#%, $18K in taxes? Hopefully the US doesn’t adopt something like that if we get President Warren/Bernie. |

Nice! But that VAT is nothing! In Holland we pay a total of 62k euro in taxes (vat + bpm) on the M50i. I couldn’t find the X5M yet, but should be a little more.

The closest I've been able to see on a real car is San Marino blue (on an M4), and it's beautiful (even by BMW's standards of making nice blues). This Marina Bay blue is apparently pretty close to San Marino so hopefully I won't regret the decision.
I remember seeing the IND X5M in Long Beach Blue and just thinking that would be my perfect car: https://www.bmwblog.com/2016/10/20/l...-distribution/ ... but then when i saw the colour in the flesh on an X5M it looked more like a turquoise rather than the metallic true blue on the IND pictures - perfect for sunny America but in rainy Lancashire, UK, I thought maybe not! Also, i think BMW know which colour shows off the car best, so thought i would take a chance on this blue - reminds me a bit of my old Ford Focus RS, which was the only other car I've owned that wasn't grey / black - i still turn my head whenever i see one: https://www.motoringresearch.com/car...tro-road-test/

Don't worry, your corporate and personal tax regime is far, far worse than the UK!
