My new beauty ... by obligation

Last year I took possession of an M3 Competition replacing a base M3. I chipped it with a Dinan Stage one. That thing was a beast and by far and away the best car I ever had. It was a fully loaded model and I loved that car. This winter we bought a cottage up north of Montreal and I was sad because my car wouldn’t be able to get me here in the winter time.

So i put it on leasebusters and given the current pandemic I was thinking of waiting to get a new car. However, being a car freak I got an X5 M50i fully loaded instead. I’m surprised to admit that i do not miss my old car at all. This car is insane!!!! I cannot believe that an X5M would be better. So happy so far with it.

I did have an issue with with the air conditioning once (which has been covered in multiple threads, but the issue has not shown its ugly head again). I didn’t have much choice as I contacted my dealer on a Wednesday and got this car on Friday 2 days later

Congrats and great looking X5. You can fix the first posted vertical image by reducing the height to less than 1500px.

I am counting the days that my AC will fail on me. Which dealer did you take yours to? Are they aware of the AC compressor issue?

Congrats on the M50i. I was in a similar situation having a M4 but living in New England the M4 would sit in the garage all winter. I’m also getting a M50i and like you, I was totally blown away when I first drove one. Perfect compromise of power and luxury that you can drive in the snow! Enjoy it man

I also made a similar switch, traded in my M4 and placed an order for a 2021 X5 M5.0 (Carbon Black with extended Black Merino leather). Should hopefully be here in a few weeks.

I loved the M4, but just looking for a little more comfort now while still being able to put my foot down if needed

Beautiful car! Shame about the wheels, though. You should sell them to me and get something nicer

You are right. The only thing i don’t like about the look of the car are the wheels. I like the standard 20”. Look sporty and classy. These look like crap aftermarket stuff designed by someone with no taste.

Well, if you ever want to get rid of them let me know! I've got the standard 20s, which are really quite nice, but I just love those 22s. Don't know why. It's ridiculous to have 22" wheels on a SUV, and totally hobbles its ability to go offroad on anything rougher than grass or gravel, but they just look so good.

I also have 20" 740M style rim. I downgraded it because the potholes on Quebec garbage road. My winter setup is 19". Sometimes I ask myself how pathetic I was to get 19" wheels for m50i.

Really? I think they are the best looking option for the X5, especially the M50i as they give a lot of presence.

Very nice OP...I'm probably in the minority, but I prefer BSM much more than CBM, and my current M50i is CBM. Too bad you couldn't keep both the M4 and X5, makes for a great stable

Ok, i’m jealous!! Very nice garage. I like your progression. I too went from 335i to 335is (i loved that car) to M3 (then M3 Competition) with brief interlude with an M235i (european delivery). Just cannot justify two such cars for 6 months a piece.

Lucky man!!
