Yes we use a local agent in a small town and I think she does it part time, and leaves a lot of the leg work to her office assistant. I left an email and a text and I'll call when the office opens. Mainly it's just additional stress as I have to drive a rental car one way, drop it off, hire an Uber to the dealership, drive the car home 4 1/2 hours, and there are severe thunderstorms predicted for the drive home. We have had a lot of hail damage the past few years, we just new roofs for our house, garage, and shed, and the wife's car got hail damage last fall, and our dog mobile got hail damage this spring when we got caught in a t-storm. I won't feel good until it's safely in the garage tonight lol.

Finally got words from my CA, pick up set for Sat. Anyone knows if CA gives out gifts these days during pick ups? I did refer my friend who bought another X5 from my CA, surely I can get some referral goodies right?

What a long day. Finally got home and having a beer. I really love the carbon black metallic, especially dripping wet at night. It rained the last two hours of my drive home, cleaned the bugs off the windshield for me. I felt right at home in the vehicle after making a few minor seating adjustments, and the whole 4.5 hour drive went smooth. I really like the X5, it was a great choice!

Spoke to Genius today again, trying to get an updated on the route the UP train is on. As I did this, I realized that the people working there are not equipped to answer detailed/informed questions - here is an example.
As the train left Spartanburg on Norfolk Sounthern, the train schedule said that it was going to travel on NS to Kansas City, then it would get transferred to Union Pacific, that was on a route as follows: KC-Denver-SLC-Hinkle-Portland-Renton which is the normal UP route for all major railroad cargo to the PNW. The ETA for Portland was going to be 9/25. Today when I called Genius they told me that the system said that my car is going to Renton and then being trucked down to Portland (ETA Oct 5 in Renton). I pointed out that the updated schedule makes no sense, because Portland is the usual major hub for traffic going to Renton and all trains stop there before jumping on the northern system, so why wouldn’t the car get offloaded there. Genius answered - oh, the train does not stop in Portland. I then, gently stated that Genius must be misinformed because all non-special rail goes through Portland on the way to Renton. Genius then stated - Oh yes, this is a special rail route. Being that I have contacts in the rail shipping industry through my job, I jumped on the phone to see if I could fact-check this. Well, my contact laughed and said that there is no way that this is considered “special cargo” that would skip the Portland hub. All that said, he did say that often car companies do screw up the scheduling so it is possible that my car is indeed being delivered in Renton and then trucked down to Portland. He said that often groups like BMW are too lazy to do the work to properly schedule the offload, and that potentially my car will go to Portland, sit there while a bunch of cars get offloaded, before proceeding to Renton where the Seattle-metro vehicles get delivered…. 🤦‍♂️🙃 |

Should you? Absolutely! Will you? Let us know how that turns out. I've referred several buyers to my sales manager friend and he knows that next time I order a new car his pencil must have a bigger eraser than it does lead.

Ended up getting a trunk mat. I’d call it a win. My CA literally froze for a good seconds when I asked for it. It was hilarious🤣

The vehicle's finally home, the SA said we were lucky not to be trapped in the stop-sale fiasco. The initial drive shows DAPP works like a charm - as advertised, however Park assist is uncooperative in low light - the SA confirmed that's a known issue. The multi-contour seats are worth every penny, and the supple ride out-does the retired X3. The final interior choice was coffee, after the wife flip-flopped between black, coffee & silverstone - she being a hard-core vegan, leather was out & my choice of cognac was vetoed as 'too orangey' |

A couple from today. I love the carbon black, and pretty much everything about the vehicle so far. Except the fact that whenever I'm within 35 feet of it my phone unlocks it and starts playing my music. I was mowing lawn today and it kept turning the football game off and syncing to the car instead, grrr. I'll figure it out.

I am mind-numbingly still waiting, after they told me the original ETA to Portland was September 25, and now “ETA” to Renton is October 9. After talking to Genius today, they think that my car is sitting in Renton, on the train waiting for offload and that it has been sitting for days that way. Genius said that lately they have issues offloading because of space availability at the yard in PNW locations. I guess the lots/yards are quite full so they are at the mercy of carriers clearing those lots and apparently it is not moving as fast as one could have hoped…
