Iconic sounds sport
Just noticed this in the ConnectedDrive store.
It's not available for my M50d but might be available for some of you other guys. Be interested to hear what people think of it. |

I see it in the store but not available for my 40i. Wonder which of the range are eligible then? 30d? I think the store shouldn't show you things you can't have, what's the point... They have you VIN so simply filter.
What I want is remote start, can't see that coming here in the UK sadly! |

I have a strong suspicion that this app is only for cars with the external "noise cancelling" (i.e. ActiveSilence) speaker, clearest discussion here: https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=25707326
And in turn, that speaker appears to only be present on V8 versions of X5/X6/X7 (so not 45e, 40i, or any of the diesels which are all 6 cylinders with varying turbo configurations ... and only in 50i, M50i, and maybe the "real" Ms).

The CD stores states that all necessary mechanical components are already installed from factory. The motorsound is accentuated in the interior Maybe a 50i or M owner can give it a try. |

The 50d has that speaker on the outside up by the exhaust and it’s been mentioned the 50d can’t take the option, so in the UK would only leave the 50i which hasn’t been reported on... and that’s probably the least likely to need fake sound inside or outside!

I don't think it would show in the store if not available for any X5. But there are some inconsistencies I wonder if anyone purchased the adaptive M suspension from CD store. Or is this just a different software for the normal adaptive dampers? It is not offered for my car. Same goes for the head light assistent and adaptive CC. I already have both and they require some dedicated hardware. I wonder how buying the software will give functionality if the hardware isn't installed. And if the hardware is installed (radar sensor voor ACC) why wouldn't it be active?? |

45e's come standard with 2-axle air suspension (2VR air springs and struts) as standard due to the added weight of the batteries and for load balancing. The Sport EDC (electronic damper control) mode on vehicles with 2VR will lower the air suspension by -20mm (-0.787in) from standard ground clearance height of 220.98mm (8.7in) to 200.98mm (7.912in) and enables EDC Sport dampening characteristics.

I just wondered how they could offer M suspension for 450 euro in the connected drive store as a software upgrade |

I agree with you on how they could offer it since it's more than just software (a detailed investigation of the suspension parts differences between base and Adaptive M should confirm) and shouldn't be available but you didn't indicate if it was. PS: Cursory investigation shows front stabilizer bars and struts are identical for X5 with base and Adaptive M suspension. Great discussion, back to the Iconic 💨🤭😉

And that is why I wondered if for iconic sound the mentioned speaker under the car was necessary. But now back to the subject. Anyone with a 50i or M tried if the iconic sound is available for their car? |

I have a 2020 X3 30i M sport and would love just a little sound through the speakers for a sportier feel as I can't hear the engine at all through the chassis . I can,t imagine what other cars this iconic sounds app is for but cars like mine that have the active sound module built in to the new operating system. the previous cars had an active sound module separate from radio head but now its built in to the system so they can sell it to you if you want it but it says not available for your car. silly!! the x3 40i would not need it as it is already active in this model from the factory. WHY don't they just the vehicles that it will be available for to make it easier

What i don't get about people who want fake noise and BMW is, why settle for normal ole V8 noise? Why not get the sound of a BMW DTM Racer?
BMW, if you're gonna go fake, make it count! When you get home you can be like: Your neighbors might look at you funny if you wore the suit though. |
