Buggy

Took delivery yesterday. You guys aren't kidding...iDrive is buggy as hell.

Also, my parking system has a lazy eye

The driver side mirror camera doesn't work half the time and when it does work it's cockeyed making everything on the left side of car slanted *

This is my 4th BMW. Last one was a 2016 X6. It was a rattle bucket but at least iDrive and on board tech worked properly.

I think the G05 could have used a little more time in the oven.

With the slow sales they had in 2018 it feels like they really needed to get these cars on the market for the year end business and personal spending season to avoid a revenue blow out. My car "mostly" works. It's just the digital systems like connected drive, digital Key Card and hotspot that remain unresolved.

Congratulations on your new BMW.

I went into this one thinking "I've got this" but it's so unlike any of my previous ones that I really didn't. Everything is so different and new that even reading the manual multiple times and using the app didn't prepare me for it. Within a week though I really did get it, it's just learning new technology and my G05 and I feel like old friends

Actually 2018 sales of the F15 were strong albeit with more discounting. With all the G05 problems, I wonder if BMW wishes they would have given it another six months before releasing. Dealers have taken a hit with the slower supply and problems.

I don't think it's a matter of reading the manual.

The computer randomly switching to guest, occasionally telling me there's no key fob when in fact it's in my pocket, not recognizing my iPhone about 25% of the time, forcing my phone into the Apple Pay screen whenever it's on the charger.

Car play working about 50% of the time, a side camera that doesn't work are all signs this thing wasn't quite ready for prime time to me.

This vehicle is different than anything. I am a tech lover and nothing from my experience with Audi or Porsche is close to how advance the current X5 is. It’s a brave new world.

Exact same situation. I miss the V8 but not nearly as much as I thought I might. This reworked I6 is impressive

Did you buy off the lot or take delivery of a custom build?

This thread is copied on audiworld in the Q8 vs X5 post. Basically says go with Q8 because the X5 is buggy as hell.

Seems like an odd comparison. The Q8 is more like a bigger X6 no?

I saw that on there yesterday. Audi wants the Q8 to be compared to the X6 (due to shape and because it is arguably better than the X6) but many people are cross shopping it with the X5. Just about everyone who I have seen that did that, has gone with the X5. Not only is it a better value, the engine is better, the ride is better and some even say the interior is better. Tech was actually on the list as even but given the problems with Idrive I'm not sure that case can be made anymore.

What do they say about the base motor variant of the X5 out muscling their flagship Q8??
