Thanks for your reply. Still waiting to see if anyone else that has an MX+ adapter and not a MX or LX on how their coding went.

Will Bimmercode allow tail lights to be turned on as DLR's?
There are occasions when I notice outside lighting becomes low, but not enough to turn on auto headlights. Tail lights always on would be a benefit.
I'm not sure about the X5 but on the X7 there's an option to enable Day Time Running Lights. On the X7 when you select this option you get both front and rear DLRs. This option is available on the X7 without coding.
On the G05 X5 (and I strongly suspect identically on G07 X7) whether rear DRLs and their controls are available or not without coding is governed by region and ISTEP version (later versions provide more control).

I am not certain whether below is complete, but the following is worth a shot and can now be coded in Bimmercode expert mode (or will be possible shortly in case I've once again confused what is currently in beta and what is in production Bimmercode):

HU_MGU/00003E52 ECU
- DAYDRIVING_LIGHT set to standard [02] to enable front DRL checkbox
- DAYDRIVING_LIGHT_REAR set to aktiv [01] to enable rear DRL checkbox
Whats the difference between rear DRL and parking lights?
??? I dunno. One has the word "parking" in it and the other the word "driving" — those seem like different and, in fact opposite, activities and related lighting functions :-P. In other words, I likely completely don't understand the question.
My apologies, wasnt specific enough.
Im asking what the rear DRLs look like compared to when having just the parking lights on.

For the US version the rear lights come on when parking lights are switched on. So does the front DRLs if its coded off in idrive.

On my 2020 X7 "DRL" and "Parking Lights" are two different light fixtures. Additionally, from iStep version 07/2019.59 forward there is an option in iDrive to "Enable/Disable" (turn on/off) the Daytime Running Lights. On my vehicle when you "Enable" DRLs it also turns on the tail lights as well as the front DRLs. NO CODING REQUIRED.

This is very easy to check. Enable Day Time Running lights in iDrive and make sure the car is parked and running while in the sun so the headlights don't come on. Put the vehicle in park, set the emergency brake, exit the vehicle and check to see if the rear tail lights are illuminated. Below are the steps to enable/disable DRLs on the X7 and I believe the X5 as well. In the US my only option is "Enable Daytime Driving Lights" with a check box next to it. Checking the box enables DRLs and unchecking the box disables DRLs for both the front and the rear. There is no separate option for the front and rear. It's all or nothing.

Via iDrive:

"CAR"

"Settings"

"Exterior lighting"

Depending on country specifications: "Daytime driving lights" or "Daytime driving lights, rear"

The setting is stored for the driver profile currently used.

Sorry, I should be more clear. I'm checking if you're able up Tailgate code with your adapter or not. As I was able to do everything but Tailgate code with my MX. Thanks.

Let me clarify. I can partially code the tailgate but not the options that will allow closing without holding the inside button or with the fob. I'm using an Android phone. Maybe it would work with an iPhone. I'm going to return the adapter because it didn't allow any additional coding options over the Veepeak unit I purchased a year ago. I'll order a newer model if and when the additional tailgate coding options work with an Android phone.

So Bimmer Code "expert mode is not available for control units that contain safety related functions". Is this true and if so, WHY????

ADV can be done in bimmercode I believe.

Auto lane change assist requires access to SAS so can't be done in bimmercode.

Go into the Instrument Cluster ECU (aka KOMBI), enable "Expert Mode" then change the following to Aktiv:

• CB_FZG_UMGEBUNG_FAS: aktiv (01)
• CB_PRESELECT_NAVI_ANSICHT_FZG_UMGEBUNG: aktiv (01)
• SICHT_ABSICHT_ENABLE: aktiv (01)
• PIA_FZG_UMGEBUNG_FAS: aktiv (01)

I also returned my MX Adapter and got a MHD ENT Wifi Adapter which just came in. I was able to code the tailgate to close via remote now.
