Very Interesting Read: NetFlix "Binge Dump Strategy"
Lately I have been doing just this with NETFLIX: Binge Watching several new Series in the span of 2 or 3 days, sometimes 1 week. And I am very satisfied with this strategy that has made NETFLIX so popular.
My recent binges: The Witcher - Messiah - Monarcha - Dracula Below this article compares 2 of the biggest shows currently on television for streaming: The Witcher vs The Mandalorian. https://www.forbes.com/sites/paultas...-in-one-chart/ Discuss...

One thing that really struck me was the sheer amount of revenue that Netflix continues to have with over 170,000,000 subscribers. Now multiply that by $14 per month!!!
No wonder they are bringing out so much quality content at a record pace. That's some serious capital "streaming in." |

The thing I love about the binge strategy is that it makes it a lot easier to follow a complicated and twisting storyline.
The 6 month-or-more breaks between season finale and season premiere sometimes made it very difficult to remember all of the important aspects of the story, let along details from earlier seasons. The producers of these shows don't make it any easier by not releasing a "previously on ###" episode before the premiere to get you back up to speed and remind you of the important details before you dive into the latest season. A 5-10 minute catch-up episode #x00 would be awesome for a lot of shows. What I don't like about a lot of these new shows is the short seasons. 24 episodes meant you had a lot to look forward to when a show finally returned, but these 10-15 epsiode seasons (if you're lucky!) just aren't as satisfying. The recent Lost Season 2 was barely enough for 3 days of light binging (three eps a night). |

I've never been into TV shows until Netflix Ondemand etc. I just would never be able to follow a series when you had to watch it on a certain day and time every week.
I think Disney just doesn't really have much compelling content right now which is why they tried to stretch the Mandalorian as much as they could. Plus only 8 episodes and sooo short. Would have hardly been a binge. Anyways I'm all for the binge, although it sucks when you are done, especially after a good series. However I ultimately end up finding something else. |

I'm really beginning (continuing) to hate netflix because of all the series I do binge, and no second season ever shows up. They seem to be too caught up in just buying everything and no one is looking at what they are buying and that many of the series leave us hanging, forever.
But they have us over a barrel. There isn't anything even close the the netflix amount or quality. Everyone else trying to take a bite out are 20 years late. |

The biggest struggle is having to wait at least 11 months and 29 days for the next season once I binge a newly released series. At least with the traditional model of releasing the content on a weekly basis I don’t have to wait as long for the next season. It ends up being about 6 months or less. |

Twilight Zone marathons were only shown on holidays (when you traditionally had nothing better to do anyways) Now every day could be a complete waste of time. "What a country!"
I have been very disappointed with my movie searches. And as above, I watch a single season of an interesting show, and then . . . Look, I'm old, I ain't got time to be waiting around for you to decide to release season 2 |

i honestly miss waiting every tuesday or whatever waiting for a new episode of house MD. it added some suspense and allowed things to processed I guess. Even tho that show has very little plot.
The immediate gratification thing has really twisted people nowadays. Someone disagrees with you; boom go on google and post three things that rebuts without any critical thinking. People are going to be so fuckin jaded when older. And I'm 27 saying this. |

Numbers show a 65% net income gain for Q3 2019 over Q3 2018. I think their biggest threat is the amount of money they're throwing to get rights and content (not that they have a choice with more bidders in the mix) and, in my opinion, overpriced stock.
Any way you look at it. Serious cheddar. |
