Alpine A120

Quote:
Alpine's all-new sports car, believed to be baptized the A120, will come with "remarkable aerodynamics".

As revealed in the short text that accompanies these latest teasers, the French Porsche Cayman and Alfa Romeo 4C rival will feature a "technique carried over from the world of supercars", which sees the addition of a flat floor and a diffuser, incorporated into the rear bumper.

Due to this recipe, Alpine says that the need for a rear wing has been eliminated completely, thus improving the aerodynamic efficiency and allowing "the design team and engineers to achieve the sleek, fluid upper body shape", which should be appreciated by customers.

Powering the new A120 is believed to be a 1.8-liter turbocharged petrol unit, derived from the 1.6-liter engine that sits under the hood of the Renault Clio RS. The lump is expected to develop a healthy 250-300 HP, allowing the sports car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.5 seconds, as it was previously confirmed.

Alpine secured a stand at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, in the close vicinity of Renault and Nissan, and this is where the A120 is likely to celebrate its world premiere.

Say Hello To The All-New Alpine A110

Quote:
There's a new Alpine sports car out, and it's coming to challenge the likes of the Alfa Romeo 4C and Porsche 718 Cayman.

Part of Renault's resurrected Alpine brand, it looks pretty much identical to the Vision Concept that debuted last year, bar some minor nips and tucks that push it closer to the assembly line.

Baptized the A110, which "reflects the timeless principles of compact size, light weight and agility that made the success of the Berlinette", it features a full aluminum platform and upper body, with obvious benefits in weight and handling.

Despite unveiling their first product in decades, Alpine are keeping key specifications hidden away, up until the new A110 makes its public debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, on March 7, at 1:15 pm CET (7:15 am EST).

However, previous intel tells us that the all-new Alpine A110 could feature a 1.8-liter turbo'd four-banger for propulsion, developing between 250 and 300 horses. Expect it to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in an estimated 4.5 seconds.

Alpine have already started taking orders for the Premiere Edition of the sports car ever since late last year, asking a €2,000 ($2,115) deposit to secure one of the first cars.

From the Jalopnik piece:

"Tipping the scales at just 2,381 pounds, it’s easy to see why this A110 scoots around those mountain roads. If you didn’t already know, no manual will be offered, just a shiftable dual clutch.

Alpine A110 To Tackle Hill Climb At Goodwood, First UK Deliveries Set For 2018

http://www.carscoops.com/2017/06/alp...-climb-at.html

Quote:
Alpine is coming back to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year, bringing along their production-ready A110 sports car. Ahead of it going on sale in 2018, the A110 will also make its dynamic UK premiere, blasting up the hill as part of Goodwood's Supercar Run.

With a kerb weight of just 1,080 kg and an output of 252 PS (247 HP), the A110 has a power-to-weight ratio of 233 horses per tonne. As a result, the lithe coupe sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.5 seconds, before reaching its electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

The new A110 isn't the only Alpine model coming to Goodwood this year. The automaker is also bringing its 1978 Le Mans-winning A442 B race car, together with the 1977 Alpine A310, itself very successful in French rallying as a Group 4 car. The Alpine A442 B was powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged V6 that enabled it to hit an impressive 223 mph (359 km/h) on the Mulsanne straight while setting the fastest ever lap time recorded by an Alpine car at La Sarthe.

As for the A310, it succeeded the smaller A110 back in 1971 and was fitted with a V6 engine in 1976, a year before the rally car's championship success.

The 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed will open its gates next Thursday, June 29th.

Yeah, that looks great. Has a lot of character of the original without being too retro.

Why are cars in the 200-300hp range getting so aerodynamic? Aerodynamics wont matter when a 400hp car shows up to play.. and itonly effects mpg on a decimal level
