Been riding my trainer and Zwift for years. Did my usual 15 mile ride today to top 100 miles this week.

My Pain Cave. Rowing machine on the left, my trainer (Trek 1.1) on the Wahoo in the center and on the right is Wifey's Nordic Track. Twin flat panels in front for Zwift and football/baseball/movies while I ride.

I tried riding a bike, and I'm afraid I found it boring......sorry. I was a runner for years, and I loved it but my knees aren't good for it now. I remember when I started dating my wife, she worked for Nike (IT director) and she was a running fool, part of the culture...we met living down the street from one another so she would call me at 4:30 in the morning to go for a run, I am not a morning person and was working rotating shifts which she never really seemed to understand but I wanted to be a good guy so would run with her....god damn. She did 8KM every morning and ran like a mad person.....I never lost a foot chase in 30+ years but my style was very different....I won by attrition not sprinting. The things we do to get laid.....

I ran for years in the Army but always hated it. I could never run with light steps. It always felt like I had 2x4s strapped to my feet. I tried running again in my late 30s and wrecked my shins and tendons. Never tried again after that. Aside from the usual quad soreness, riding doesn't bother my legs at all.

I bought an MTB e-bike. Had been recovering from surgery and wanted to get back on the trails. Soon after, the local park rangers really cracked down so back to manual labor. Anyway, e-bikes are a lot of fun. More widely accepted in Europe but not so much here.

Pretty active, mountain biking, took up playing hockey for the first time 5 years ago, work out a few times a week just to keep the injuries away. I have a young daughter (12) and still need to be able to put a scare into the boys when they start coming around.
I have a picture of my late father from 1984 when he was 7 years younger than I am now. He looks 10 years older than I am now. I agree, 50 ain't what it used to be. Thank God.

I'm about to buy a mountain bike to hit some of the local trails. It'll be bike #4 in my stable. Probably going to go with a Trek Fuel EX.

I'd love to try an e-bike. Just to see how much fun they are.

I know what you guys mean about things not working like they used to; ugh, keeping up with the 20-somethings at work is getting harder every day.

How old am I? I'm old enough to remember the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. They played "I wanna hold your hand". (Yes, I had to look that up to be sure - it's on YouTube). I think I was three or four but I do remember dancing around the living room while momma was hating on the Beatles.

I was a nerd in school until I discovered football, then started lifting weights and being a typical jock until I was flung into a tree while wrecking a Suzuki GS750. Breaking my back slowed me down.

Health? Well, I'm kinda like the car salesman that says the car's paint job is beautiful - except for that scratch on the hood; and the interior is in fine shape - except for the rip in the headliner; and the motor is perfect - except for one minor oil leak. My spine is perfect except for one little kink; and my heart is pristine except for that one leaky valve; and my knees are like new except for some missing cartilage; I have perfect vision as long as everything is within a limited range; and my blood pressure is acceptable as long as you don't check it while I'm awake. Other than that, I'm .

You're looking down at the grass instead of seeing it from the root side, so all is good!

57 in a few days. Fortunately I still have all my hair, it just changed color. All of my male cousins went bald in their late twenties. I was pretty hard on my body in my 20's and 30's, but aside from the aches and pains of getting older, no real health problems. I lost 30lbs over a year ago and have maintained that with no real effort, just eating better and exercise. Haven't needed any little blue pill yet, everything still works like a charm!

Still think I am 30 in my brain, but after a couple of days of acting 30 physically, my body laughs and says nope, you aren't able to do all that anymore. :

Mental age versus physical age: I remember feeling 18 until I hit my 25th birthday and something changed in my head. Then I was 25 until I hit 40 and had another revelation. I'm 66 now and I still think I'm 40. But I suspect it's about time for another ah-ha moment.

Growing old isn't for sissies. At age 61, I lost my job and faced age discrimination in the workplace. I reluctantly sold my recently purchased 2009 BMW 128i Msport back to the car dealer. Two years later to the day, I successfully was employed again. I immediately found another BMW 128i and got back in the saddle. Two years later at age 65 diagnosed with high blood pressure and stent was placed in my heart. At 66, diagnosed with high PSA level had a prostatectomy. I am now cancer free! I have allot to be thankful for. I got up today. I am a middle-aged 68. I stay positive and use a SHED approach.

You know what 'bout e-bikes? Since I relocated near the alps I hear from the beginning of spring to late hall into the radio lots of reports and accidents from e-bikers, who are climbing onto passes and mountains, where before them only well trained people were be able to reach.
Now with the electric support nearly every shmock is be able to get up the hills, fit or not - and the not-people are bothering the first responders very much. So, old farts, don't do that home alone

I could see that being a problem. E-bikes aren't mopeds. You still have to work at it. And once you get up in the hills you have to come down and maybe ride up again. Out-of-shape folks or those with undiagnosed heart conditions could easily get into trouble. Plus cycling down a steep grade is not a task for beginners. Get into a corner too hot and you're in deep shit.
