The Germans don't want to find these pieces of history. They would rather keep them burried and rot/rust away.

At the former Nazi parade grounds in Nuremberg... Großer Dutzendteich... its been rumored that many tanks and weapons were "disposed" of in the man made lake there. This is why even today they do not allow swimming there. There is even a museum on the Nazi's there called: Dokumentationszentrum Reichsparteitagsgelände.

Funnily enough there's no shortage of Britishers that relish the chance of getting themselves some German WW2 trinkets.

Whenever I've attended the war & peace show there's no shortage of Englishman dressed up in German kit & most, it seems prefer to masquerade as members of the Schutzstaffel.
The last time I went there was a sweet stall adorned with nazi flags.
If you like rein acting that's fine, I also get why people like German kit but I don't get the nazi thing. There were after all plenty of Wehrmacht units.

I know exactly what you mean. I saw this BBC docu a few years back trying to explain why so many Brits want to go to the Dark side and be a Nazi.

see 02:40 and onwards...

The other "interesting" thing is that a lot of the vendors at these events are Germans... who travel to the UK to sell their "goods"... while back home in Germany... sale of these artifacts is Illegal!! See video at 11:20...

Fresh water doesn't corrode like sea water, must be pretty dead in the lake maybe from toxic fuel and petroleum so nothing can survive down there and stuff gets preserved. Looks like a modern day armored vehicle down to the continental tires, and even says made in germany in english.

My first reply was the exact same thing but I erased it because I'm sure they exported them at some point.
