thats what AdBlue smells like on diesels to clean the DPF etc, but you don't have a diesel. is there an equivalent for the PPF on petrol cars?

Most new cars run leaner during cold start to properly warm up the cats. It's absolutely normal for such smell to appear. Drive the car for a while until it's properly warmed up and see if you can smell it again. You probably won't because now the engine runs at regular mixture.
