Halloween Surpise

Started my car this morning and there was a message about a “surprise”. It was a short animated Halloween bit that was coordinated with the cabin lighting.

It really was a nice surprise at 4:50am on way to gym.

I thought so, too. It took me nearly to the end of it before I noticed the lights changing colors inside the car. I thought it was a pleasant surprise after me being so frustrated yesterday with CarPlay not connecting. Pleasant Friday surprise!!

Its best viewed when it is dark out. I will need to see if I can view it again with the sunshade open to see if the skylounge changes colors too.

Now what would be funny (or not, depending on your dark humor level) is if the car did one of those random scare videos in the display while you're starting up your car.. Like a zombie face suddenly appears and screams at you in high volume!

Or better yet, while you're driving... yeah.... definitely cool.... (just kidding!)

Ok. W does this mean for those of us they didn’t see anything of the sort? Maybe like OTA updates, the USA gets these after everyone else around the globe? I can’t wait to watch this Halloween video on Christmas Eve.

Ok. Crow eat time. I was looking at the main app screen today in a 11.5hr drive and saw this available. “Must be in Park to view.” When I finally arrived, I watched. What a hoot. Wife and daughter loved it too. Whimsicle touch. Very nice. Thank you BMW. (Psst…You still didn’t fix CarPlay tho…)

Very cool. I have updates turned off too and still got it, so that’s sort of neat.

there usually are

for many years, the U.S. never got these messages, only other countries. (we’ve had bimmers since 2009.)

U.S. vehicles started getting them within the past year. I recall the first was Thanksgiving 2022

We never got it message in the X4M. Weird. Updates where turned off in that too though. I should review the settings. The x5m had the ECUs locked up from an uncommanded OTA update.
