X5 with M Sport Package aftermarket towing options
Hi all, am a new owner of a 2019 X5 with the M sport package which did not come with the two axle air leveling feature. It appears the only aftermarket tow hitch that will fit this vehicle is the Stealth hitch which won't accomodate a load distribution hitch (LDH). Had a Stealth hitch on my 2018 Volvo V90 and loved it but that car had rear air suspension. The only reason for wanting to use a LDH is to keep the X5 level. I don't anticipate having a tongue weight more than 400 lbs but without a leveling system I think that will cause the vehicle to squat down some. There are a number of aftermarket tow hitches that will fit a 2019 X5 without the M sport package.
So my question is has anyone installed one of these hitches on a M sport package and trimmed the rear valance? What other issues did you encounter? thanks a bunch! Greg |

I have a factory hitch with steel springs. I don’t know the answer to your question but I don’t think 400# will be an issue. I’ve towed with mine a few times and I know have been close to maximum 550#. The vehicle does squat some- it’s not enough matter. I.e. steering and brakes are fine, ride quality is still good.
