New X5M Comp Order - PCD 1/14/21

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Good Morning Everyone!

I'm super excited that I have final details on my X5M Comp order. I got a build week 50 slot when ordering over a month ago and after calling BMW yesterday, my new car will be complete next Friday the 18th.

I elected to do Performance Center Delivery and unfortunately the earliest slot was January 14th. I'm coming from an F85 X5M and still have my F10 M5 of which I'll be getting rid of both for the new car!

I asked if I could skip the PCD activities and just pick the car up so I could have it before Christmas and the answer was no, but I think it'll be worth the wait.

I went a little unique on my build as I haven't seen another Ametrin Metallic X5M on the forum - pretty pumped to see it in person.

Build as follows:
X5M Comp
Ametrin Metallic
Silverstone
Drivers Assistance Pro
Executive Package
Bowers & Wilkins

The only mods I will be doing are, installing MSS Springs, front reflector delete, and front window tint matching rear.

I will document the PCD Delivery and post here, can't wait to join y'all!

Instead of it being delivered to your dealership, you get a half day on track with the same model as the car you're picking up, and some other cool stuff too including off-roading X5. Factory tour and you get to pick your car up directly inside the plant.

I wouldn't have done it but I'm already going to be in South Carolina for holidays and the dealership that sourced my car was over 8 hours away so it just made more sense for me!

understood, thank you!

I'm thinking if it makes sense for me when the time comes, I'm in Mass and drive will take 12hrs or so, I have friends living in NC but still.

not really keyed on performance add-ons while at it but I thought it could be some financial difference but sounds like its not true!

No financial difference, essentially they are using the 995$ delivery fee to cover this cost instead of shipping to dealership.

They do put you up in the Greenville Marriott for free and feed you. Most people fly in, and bmw transports you to your hotel and then from hotel to plant.

Congrats! I did PCD of my X5M in November. Driving the X5M on the track was a blast!

It was awesome! Best part was driving the X5M on the track and pushing it to the limit. It was great to drive their car on the track while mine was sitting inside.

So today was the day!!

What an awesome experience, I recommend the PCD in Spartanburg 1,000,000%. Matt was our guy and I believe is the head over all the driving school instructors. He's the one who drove the M5 in the world record drift/refuel video! Super cool. He's been in movies like Ford vs. Ferrari, Talladega Nights and a few other notable ones.

Classroom session at 8 was less than 15 mins, and we were off to get in our cars. I had a white with black interior X5M Comp and we went straight to the course and he told us to burn some rubber. It was so fun and amazing what these cars can actually do (this was my first time driving on a track, and my 5th M Car) so it was awesome. We did braking from 40, 50 and 55mph and then jumped in some M340s and did the skid pad. I had a blast!

Factory tour was cool, but by that point I was more excited to see my car - we took some X5 40i's over to the plant and on the way back, we did the off-road course. Wow! There were multiple times I thought we were going to roll over, but the car truly was amazing... nothing I'm going to try with my own.

The delivery after lunch was great, it can be as quick or as long as you want. I just made sure I understood the new I drive and drivers assistant pro which was new to me and awesome.

The drive home was so fun, for those that say the DAP is annoying, for how much I drive on the highway, it is going to make driving so much more enjoyable.

My first impressions after 100 mile trek home was, the seats are more comfortable than the F85, no question. The interior is much more refined and feels more like a 125k SUV than the F85 ever did. Less road noise, and not near as stiff on the highway compared to the F85. Overall, I am very very pleased.

And some of the new car! They said it was the first Ametrin F95 they've done a delivery on.

Looks great.
I see you won the tire lottery with the Michelins on the best looking wheels offered for the X5MC. Enjoy.

You're spot on! Matt wanted to see that color as he hadn't before on the X5M, just the X6M and I saw the car for the first time when he did and I said Thank Jesus, Michelin's! And he said, I don't even know why they use the P Zeros, they suck.

The white one that I drove on track had the other comp wheels and I actually thought they looked really good! Both are going to be/would be a nightmare to clean. I actually think depending on color, the other ones look just as good if not better.

I always appreciate a unique color other than White, Silver and especially Black.

Well done! Enjoy!
