'24 X5M Winter Wheel and Tire Set Questions

Hi everyone,

Our X5M is currently at the status of Production begins. While we are waiting for the delivery, we'd like to prepare some accessories for the vehicle. We have a few questions and would greatly appreciate any feedback or recommendations you may have:

Winter tire sets:
> We noticed that a few months ago, the winter sets for X5M were priced around 5k, but now they seem to have increased to over 6k. Do you know if any additional features or improvements have been added to these sets?

> We've been searching for wheels and tires on websites like Tire Rack, but it seems difficult to find winter tires for the rear wheels. Even the OEM winter sets only show specifications for the front wheels, not the rear ones. (21-inch M light alloy wheel Douple-spoke 808 M Orbit Grey, winter complete wheel front. Equipped with a Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 SUV 295/35R21 107V. Rim Size 10.5Jx21. For Front Axle only.) What is the spec for the rear?

> Is it possible to apply 20-inch sets on the X5M? We came across the M Performance 20 Inch Style 748M Black Cold Weather Wheel and Tire Set for the M60i and are curious if they would fit on the X5M.

> Lastly, is it possible to get any discounts from the dealer if we decide to buy accessories directly from BMW? (One of us is a CCA member)

Any insights or advice you can provide would be very helpful. Thank you all in advance!

Congrats and good for you thinking early about winter shoes. Just know the OEM kit is pricey and sells out fast. There are no improvements to the set-up; its rims and tires. I think the rear is a 11x21, but it still runs a square set-up of 295/35/21.

There are several winter tires options to choose from, check discount tire if you don't see many options on Tire Rack; I'm running Yoko BlueEarth on mine. Sometimes it's useful to go into the store or talk to someone on the phone, even though they may be out of stock online they can actually find them at time.

Yes, you can run 20s for winter without issue.

Search and you'll find more, its discussed several times.

Discounts all depend on your dealer.

Fixed the above link.

Thanks for the offer. We are living in PA so traveling to Cleveland might take a while.

If you don’t mind storing and swapping tires (by a reputable shop of course) twice a year you can also buy the Pirelli Scorpion Winters. This is the route I took but I also have a warehouse to store mine in and a tire shop near it so it’s convenient. Saved me around 4k going this route

The only concern would be the tire shop damaging the wheels while swapping.

Couldn’t agree more I do cringe before checking for damage after swapping

That being said I only take it to a legit local certified shop and they haven’t done me wrong yet
