3rd row?

I can't find it on the website or even under the build your own function. Does the X5 have a 3rd row option anymore? I'd want the M sport package as well. Maybe it's no longer available with the X7.

Jeep made the Grand Cherokee L longer than the standard GC so they could put a 3rd row in. The X5 interior is about 6" less than the standard GC. I feel like the X7 would be much more comfortable with 3 rows than the X5, but that's just a personal opinion.

Would have to agree here. I've owned both X7 and X5 and I don't know how they managed to squeeze 3 rows into an X5 and have it be remotely usable.

I definitely agree, and I'd love the X7. My wife needs to test drive it but I just don't think she's going to want to drive something that big on a daily basis. The 3rd row would be used once in a blue moon...just want to have it as an option if ever necessary. A mid-size SUV (or SAV as BMW calls it) would be preferred.

It would be tight but posssible. I still have an E70 which is a rare bird compared to current offerings in the sense that it’s a V8 with sports package, third row, running boards and rear air suspension. Young kids can still sit in the 3rd row for short trips in town when we need to shuttle more friends or visiting family. Won’t work for teenagers. Interestingly the G05 feels wider and less cramped in the 2nd row.

It hasn’t been an available option for quite some time on new builds. I was told by the dealer that the option went away for two reasons: 1) supply chain / chip shortage issues and 2) BMW didn’t want the option on the X5 to cannibalize X7 sales. Luckily, I was able to find a gently used low mileage MSport 3rd row equipped G05, but they’re hard to come by.

The X7 isn't that much bigger. Only +9" in length. I can't imagine it's that comfortable with a 3rd row after all.

The 3rd row option typically resurfaces when a new model year is released, but it is only available for a short period of time based on my experience. Check out this related thread: https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1955192

I made my order with 3rd row on July and received it on August (Canada). For me, I added it as an option and I heard it increases the resell value. However, when I got it my kids loved it and always fight to set there (6 & 10 years old) they set comfortably. Also, when you order the 3rd row, the second row will be fully electric movement same as the passenger seat.

2022+ the option was removed.

Have it on my 2020, middle row is electric movement, 3rd row just folds mechanically. With the 3rd row up, the only downside is the reduced trunk under-storage. Otherwise it’s practically exact same storage as one without 3rd row.

I have it on my 2022 new build 40i. Maybe it's available for Canada.

Got a 2019 CPO with third row instead. Really hard to find and hasn't been available for new builds. For my spouse, having a third row was a non-negotiable. The X5 is about as large of a vehicle as we'd want and the third row only gets used about once a month with kids, so is perfect. As mentioned, makes the second row seats more functional too. I'm certainly never going to sit back there (I'm 6'4"....) but for kids/short adults for a decently short ride, it's a great option to have. My spouse fit and is 5'4", I'd say that's about the max.

But really hard to find even CPO. My search criteria would give me like 200 vehicles in a certain geographic radius and then would go to like 12 when I indicated third row and the majority of those 12 we're just within the radius because they could be shipped (CarMax) for a fee.

So if you really want a third row I would look for slightly used and be patient. It's not officially gone as an option for the X5 but who knows when it will be back as an actual option on new builds. As stated, it's never been an option on MY22 AFAIK. Is leather even back yet?
