Influenced by this thread, I went to the dealer and looked at the second row of two G05s. One had Merino and the other Vernasca.

Both of the second rows had wrinkles like those evident in photos shared in this thread (e.g. 108, 109). I found the Merino more comfortable but not remarkably different in terms of the wrinkles.

You judge, took this video today at the local dealer, doesn't look good to me, checked a couple more X5's and all had different "design" of wrinkles.....

Nice video. I've had a change of heart after looking at some of the leather in my house. I have a couple of higher end pieces and they have similar wrinkles in them. So I'm no longer really bothered by it.

In my case, diesel engines will get here on around March 2019, so got time to decide, probably will order multi contour seats instead of sports

Not bad, to be honest, i like the nex X5 so much, that some wrinkles will not be a deal breaker

I am picky and was super anxious about this topic. I was already prepared to reject delivery if the wrinkles were overly objectionable (not that there was any real way to resolve this issue).

Anyway, mine is black vernasca and looks exactly like clt_x5’s picture two posts above. In pics and, even more important, real life, it’s not a big deal and it blends into the seat. I am already over it and have not thought about it even once in the week since delivery.

For me, it was ultimately much ado about nothing and does not detract at all from my enthusiasm for my new x5.

Regardless, if I didn’t buy the car, they could have resold it in mere hours here in Dallas. The South Carolina factory made 10,965 x5s in October, they likely all had wrinkled rear seats, and BMW will have no problems selling every one of them.

The G05 is a fantastic car. Even my wife, who has driven only a succession of 7 series over the past decade, keeps complimenting it, which never happened with any of my MBs or Range Rover. I may even be able to talk her into an x7 for herself.

I saw a few more cars and the strange thing is the wrinkles really are there while at the same time they are not very noticeable at all.

The seat are far more comfortable than I expected.

unlikely given how this is an enthusiast forum that accounts for such a small percentage of their base, although I wish they would too

Honestly the F15 wasn't much better, so thinking it isn't going to change much on the G05.

It’s not a design and it’s a problem to some, not to others. Here’s the “design” on the South Africa configurator. Note no wrinkles. They do not show this on the US configurator, gee, I wonder why.

Not design. You decide how much the wrinkles bother you. Me, I think it's sloppy and not up to BMW quality. BMW shouldn't accept this kind of production, big or small.
