When the gist of your conversations are your last procedure, from your doctor, and most of your conversations are about your grandkids. And don't pull out the pictures everyone wants to see.

I'm getting stronger with age too. I mean, when I was 20, when I got a boner I could hardly push it down so it pointed towards the floor using both hands. Now, it's easy to do with one hand. No telling how strong I'll be in another decade.

Lol. I'm jealous. My boner has never pointed up in my life.

I suffer from nighttime priapism.. and my erections are hours long .Im close to 9 inches long and 6.5 around like a gillete shaving cream..Been like that since mid 20s.. because of it

This is why I could never take ED drugs later in life.

Eyes are going. It's beginning to affect depth perception, I think. I used to be able to park my car perfectly. I knew exactly where it was in relation to things around me. Now I need a reflector on a stick in the garage so I pull far enough into the garage to close the door but not so far that I bang into the workbench. And I keep noticing when I park in a lot that I'm on one of the lines instead of being centered.

Today I was walking past my mountain bike, which is mounted on the garage wall a few feet off the ground. I slammed the back of my hand against one of the pedals and ripped a nice chunk of flesh out. After I got the bleeding stopped and the wound bandaged, I went back out into the garage and slammed the back of the same hand into the recycle bin. I've heard cataracts can cause depth perception problems and that issue runs in the family.

Tonight Wifey and I were out for a walk when two punks in a car sped by us and launched a full can of Coke at us. It missed Wifey by a foot or two and blew up on the roadside. I turned to get the plate and couldn't even begin to make it out. My 20/20 vision days are long gone.

That makes my blood boil to hear that...and saddens me at the same time.

I'm a big believer in karma and I hope it finds them quickly.

I feel your pain. Last winter I started having a problem driving in the dark. In March I started to notice a difference in my vision both close and far but went into lockdown and couldn’t get my eye doctor. I finally went yesterday and he said I have the start of cataracts plus my astigmatism. FML. This really sucks. Need to look into surgery. Dr said it’s too early. He will try and tweak my prescription. Getting old sucks. Now get off my lawn.

Only qualifies for this thread if you had to avoid Mastadon's or Sabre Tooth Tigres.

TBH, I look back at both of those trips and think my parents were either crazy or they were trying to get rid of me.

Not disagreeing with your doc. But I can tell you I know many people who have had cataract surgery and almost every one is thrilled with the results. When it is time I think you'll be happy.

On that note there are two paths to take.

1) standard paid for by medicare with fixed lens replacement technology. Been done for decades and works but if your eyes were bad before needing reading glasses they will still be bad. This is pretty much free covered by medicare.

2) multifocal lens implants. The surgery is almost identical but you pay extra (a lot, like $4K or something) to get the high tech lens that allow you to see like you did when you were younger.

Number two doesn't work for everyone and a top shelf surgeon will tell you. In my case I couldn't wait til I had cataracts. When I was 50 I was fed up with needing cheaters to read a menu or see anything small on my phone etc. So I jumped the gun and had multifocal implanted in Thailand on my dime.

My surgeon asked me what I expected and what my priorities were. I told him I just don't want to need glasses and I want my vision like when I was young. He said yes to the first and no to the second. There is other stuff aging besides the lens.

My result - well I'll skip the gory details and the fact in Thailand they'll do BOTH eyes at the same time. For me it worked out fine. I had some issues with halo effect at night for a few months (try driving when every taillight glows) but I got what I asked for.

I can read without glasses. If I'm gonna read a long time small print I'll still use cheaters but I don't need them to read a menu or my phone. I can drive without glasses. The only sacrifice is (and it might have been like that before) I can not see golf balls at distance very well. That is the "no I can't have the vision I had when I was young part".

I considered surgery but I balk at anything or anyone, including myself touching my eyes.

Back then I found out by failing the view finder part of license renewal.
Got my first pair then and man what a difference, didn’t know what I was missing! Until the doc said it still will only get worse! So now it’s been a new prescription every visit. Dread every visit now.
Getting old not only sucks, I want a refund!!!

When this left a lasting impression on your young ass. My family, and I, used to watch this movie every year, almost as a ritual. Margaret Hamilton left the lasting impression of what a witch was, for me. She was great!

Yes! It was different when you could see your favorite movies only once a year.
