I hear you. I was extremely nervous. When I was seconds away from surgery the doc asked how I was doing and I told him. I was looking for a little chemical help to reduce the nerves. What I got was unconscious and both eyes done before I woke up.

Most people do not get that in the US. But I hear you.

I feel your pain. Last winter I started having a problem driving in the dark. In March I started to notice a difference in my vision both close and far but went into lockdown and couldn't get my eye doctor. I finally went yesterday and he said I have the start of cataracts plus my astigmatism. FML. This really sucks. Need to look into surgery. Dr said it's too early. He will try and tweak my prescription. Getting old sucks. Now get off my lawn.
NOW I know why old people prepare for exits 1+ mile before getting off

Is the ramp 100' or 300'?!? just go slow and figure it out cause I can't be 100% anymore

Dark out/rain and glare of the almost constant night construction lights 🚧🚨make driving home white knuckle

I choose not to drive at night in the rain, can't see like I did just a couple years ago I'm mid 30's btw

Edit: I'm someone that loves driving, my work is at different sites all over NE, 50k+ miles a year (different vehicles) to now have limits on my ability is unfortunate for sure

ALL my friends are over 40, they laugh at my petty issues, wait until you start praying before taking piss then we will talk, I can't wait for that issue 😐

You should at least get your eyes checked, so you know what your options are.
Now get off my lawn!

Most nervous I've ever been was the "Big Snip".

I'm fortunate that as I've worn corrective lenses for 30 years...majority of that in contacts ....my prescription has stayed the same

I'm actually planning Lasik this year at some point.

I am not an expert on this so do your own research. I believe once you do lasik or the like the option of multifocal lens is limited. Something about doing cornea shaping meaning you'll be doing that every 4-5 years the rest of your life. Not sure. Find out before doing it.

I went in the end of last year to discuss lasix. I've been in contacts for 35+ years, no change in the far prescription, but now the contacts are bifocal.

Regular lasix - $4k
Lens replacement/preemptive cataract - $11k

They suggested I await a proper 25% cataract occlusion and health insurance would cover the lens replacement. I don't want to wait that long, but Lotto Second Chance hasn't come thru with that $15k yet

Yeah. Wait until it's paid for. I did it out of pocket at age 50. Of course that was long ago and in Thailand and my costs were about $3500. That included made in Europe multifocal lens and a hospital room for a night.

i'm 53, and I can just barely notice a bit of taillight halo now. 25% occlusion will be mid-60's at this rate. I hate getting up in the middle of the night to pee and not being able to see the stars in the backyard.

So, yeah, GET OFF MY LAWN (for your own good)

I did lasik 20 years ago. Was seeing better than 20/20 the next day. Eyesight is still perfect for distance, no halo effect at night either. Wear readers now, starting at age 50. Lasik, to me, was as life changing as getting married and having kids. Not even kidding. Mine was $998 out the door for both eyes.

You know what this is, and knew that you could test it and replace it at Thrifty's drug store; usually located in the K-Mart shopping center.

Radio Shack used to advertise they had the worlds largest selection of tubes.
I miss the Radio Shack stores, one of my favorite places to go as a kid.

I plan to do it this year. I just keep putting it off because of work and all. But I heard that I could do it on a Friday and be back at work on Monday.

You know you're old when you wake up at 4:09 in the according to your digital clock and immediately think, "I could have bought that engine in a Chevy in 1965."

Or as is in my case, you have to stare at it for a second to figure out what the fuzzy numbers are because you don't want to put on your glasses!

Older yet when you have something that still uses tubes. I sold most of them but had a collection of 1960's era Fender guitar amps. Nothing like a saturated tube says rock and roll.

Absolutely. I've got three amps that all use tubes. None from the 60's though.

If only I had kept my first amp - a blackface Bassman.
