I feel you! My delivery/pick up is scheduled for this coming Friday, and after a 5-month-long wait, I’d really hate to hear the car has to stay for some repairs…

Hopefully this will be resolved by then! I’m sure they will at least have an answer to what the issue is by Friday. It’s the worst, my cars been at the dealer since Thursday

The issue looks to be "valvetronic" per the bulletin.

"The Valvetronic system is a BMW variable valve lift system which, in combination with VANOS, allows infinite adjustment of the intake valve timing and duration. The system claims to improve fuel economy and emissions, and negates the need for a throttle body in regular use."

Looking at the network trace on the recall site, it says:

defectCode: "STOP025416"
defectCodeDescription: "F95 F96 G05 G06 G07 G09 G70 - VALVETRONIC"
recallType: "Emission"

I'm hoping it's just a software update that doesn't affect performance/reliability.

Curious as to why, mine is MY2024 built week 53/2023.
Glad someone else had this message, I was beginning to worry,
Not too sure about your week 53 build date!

I reached out to my sales manager and he said this......"I just had a new x5m60 that I ordered for a client arrive with that recall. BMW does not have a remedy yet.
Recall just states "Valvetronic".
Do not have much info, either going to be part availability or programming. We are waiting."

Well, that doesn’t sound good! I wonder how involved that repair will be. A few months ago my lifters were ticking on my Yukon Denali and the repair was new lifter banks and camshaft, as the lifter stuck and ruined the cam. That is most often caused by GMC’s fuel saving AFM system, whereby it transitions from 8 to 4 cylinders. That eats valves and lifters for lunch. $8,300 and 45 hours of labor to repair. Hope this isn’t similar.

Based on what I've read the car is safe to drive. Mine has no symptoms whatsoever. Could be a part replacement or could be a programming fix. Time will tell. I have a 2,000 mile road trip planned in 2 weeks and will carry on. Will need to have the 10k service done just prior to or right after.
Disclaimer: I'm by no means an expert.

Wondering if this is somehow related to the CEL I had a few weeks ago. It persisted over several start/stops over the course of a weekend but then resolved itself and has yet to return. Never got any error messages and both iDrive and the BMW app showed no issues when the CEL was on. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Had my LCI X5M (May 2023 build) in for scheduled service today and was surprised when this recall popped up. The dealer showed me the amazingly uninformative service bulletin, same as was linked above. He said this was the first he'd heard of it, and knew nothing about what the issue might be or when a fix would be available. Not too thrilled with two open recalls on my vehicle (this and the brake controller)...

Anyone have any updates on the recall? Any more info on if a solution to fix the issue has been found yet?

Hey everyone! Just got some good news from a close friend who works in the dealership that the XM’s stop sale was just released. He thinks it should apply to the M60is & Full Ms too!!
