2024 X5 US Specs CarPlay won't connect
Hi everyone, I just took delivery of my baby this week and the CarPlay won't work, it only connects to Bluetooth audio and phone, but not CP. I've sougth help from BMW NA genius with no success. My car is a 2024 BMW X5 US Specs in Korea. Any advice or recommendation to make it work?

Dumb question here...are there other US spec car you know in South Korea that play Apple CarPlay?

Have you rebooted the system? Press/hold the volume knob for 30 sec.

I had the same problem. Couldn’t find Apple Maps anywhere. Finally looked at my iPhone and turned on car play under general settings and voila …it worked.
Now my question is can I toggle between bmw’s nav and Apple maps? I like things about both of them |

Yes but you must input your destination in both. BTW, I use Google maps

I use BMW Nav and Waze at the same time almost every time I use Navigation. I have not tried any other combinations, but this combination seems to work for me.

And you have a route active in both? Waze can always be used with BMW Nav to give you traffic updates. It can't, at least in iD7, be used with an active route when BMW Nav has a route active.

Yes, I put a route in both. Don’t ask me why, just comparing both Nav systems and bored driving. (retired pilot) I haven’t done it lately since any updates, so maybe something has changed.

My CarPlay has been working fine for several months. All of a sudden, over the last week, it's not connecting automatically and I have to go in to the mobile devices menu to select my phone. I wonder if a recent iOS update borked something.
It's weird, because my BMW still recognizes that the phone is connected and will even use it for calls (presumably over Bluetooth), but CarPlay won't launch until I manually launch it. |

I suppose that’s possible, but there’s no mention of a software update on my paperwork from the last visit. Also, my iDrive system rebooted on its own, and went through the initialization process where it asked me to be introduced to the virtual assistant again.
