Difference between rear axel and GVWR: with and without 3rd Row seating.
In the BMW specifications it lists different specifications for rear axel load and gross vehicle weight with and without 3rd row seats. I have looked but cannot find any different chassis parts, axels, suspension, etc which are either different or reinforced which explains this load capacity difference. Does anyone have any ideas?
I have a 2020 G05, M-Sport, air suspension, without 3rd row seats, and I plan to tow a small travel trailer with it. I am curious about improving cargo capacity, and if there is part difference within the 3rd row package I can implement. Without 3rd row. Approved rear axle load lbs/kg 3,616/1,640 Approved gross vehicle weight lbs/kg 6,162/2,795 With 3rd row. Approved rear axle load lbs/kg 3,858/1,750 Approved gross vehicle weight lbs/kg 6,691/3,035 Basically with 3rd row the car can carry 500# more cargo/people. Any thoughts would be appreciated. |

Yes, the point of my question. I understand the specs, but I can't find a single part difference other than the seats themselves which explains the difference.
