But I am strongly leaning towards M50d. Anyone else?
Have ordered M50d and expecting delivery late April/early May.

Will definitely be posting pics 😀

M50d on order

I ordered my M50d in November even before I test drove it. Expecting delivery end of March!

Last week I got to test drive it again but took the car overnight.
It was even better then I remembered.
I will miss my e70 3.0d but so ready for the Beast!

Got to say M50d all the way you will not be disappointed.
I have had the f15 M50d now for four years and it has not missed a beat. It has an appealing blend of economy and brute power.
Test driving the new model it felt even smoother and more powerful. I could not think of having an X5 with any other engine. Don’t even mention a 4cyl, 30d not enough power and the V8 too much at the bowser!
Am counting the days til my new baby arrives.

Burning question for those of us outside the US - do we have the same issues with laser lights as the US - are they broken/have they been nobbled?

First cornering lights - if you could try them out at night like ScottMZ3 did on his M850i in this post:

https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=165

you would be an absolute champion. In Australia some early dealer 30d's did come with laser lights as did all M50d's (early dealer and customer ordered - didn't have to wait until March/April like all customer 30d's). My tests of 30d's with laser lights say the 30d cornering lights don't work. Haven't been able to test an M50d.

A slightly more difficult and more subjective test would be on the open road can you detect high-beam adaptive working and possibly if you believe they are operating a full power (don't know how you can objectively test, so just your subjective opinion would be great).

Cheers, and enjoy your M50d!

While the X5 is at the Dealer I am unable to collect until today due to being away on work commitments.

I will certainly look then once I receive.

Got one in Carbon black

Hi,

I got mine in February and with lots of problems. Been in and out of the repair shop since. Today I have a X1 as a loaner because of an Err regarding the differential lock. Never got the Idrive to work and hope to see that working and displaying apps from my Android soon.

The engine is a beast as others has said and if it was not for any IT related stuff it is a great car!

Reading through this thread, I'm hoping they've ironed out the kinks...

I just ordered an M50D and can't wait to get the car. I'm curious to feel how the diesel unfolds it's power on the Autobahn.

Ok I'm not sure who is your dealer but M50i IS available in Slovenia. You can check it on the configurator. My dealer (in Celje) was even trying to convince me to take the petrol but in the end i went for M50d. Reason - much better economy with even better torque. Unless you intend to track it, it is hard to justify the V8. I would agree that the sound alone is worth it, but in the end, i went the other way.

Ultimately, both are awesome and cost the same to buy. After that it gets emotional Petrol is pure sex but diesel will mean 2x lower consumption and stronger resale value. So it comes down to where do you think you can actually go wild, your budget and the milage you plan to do. I'm doing 30k km per year and plan for 6 years of ownership until the next model i guess. So i made a rational choice, although my heart still gives me shit some days

I think you'll find that the OP posted in January 2019, when the M50i was not available in the EU. This has changed since then
