Did you buy it aftermarket ? Is that possible ? My X5 will come with the standard shifter that I don't really like either but I don't like the price of the crystal option... Overpriced to me...
So if there is a nice and reasonnably priced aftermarket option, specially with leather ... why not Thanks !
It's OEM don't have the price yet since it's a test and depends if it fits or not

if you are referring to me, the part I ordered is 100% BMW original, my dealer accepted to import 1 crystal shift knob as a test, if it works, I have to buy it, if not, they will keep it, so there's no risk involved on this deal for me and for my car.

I am finding there are lot of courageous individuals out there intent on "improving" their vehicle.

My preference is to leave well enough alone.

right lol every time i get in and carplay doesnt work right or acts up or something else isnt right I get anxious. I wouldn't ever have the courage to mess with any oem part or mods. at worst I'd wait out the lease and get the feature on the next build...

I hope to be able to have the glass shifter installed when my car arrives at the dealer. I’ve got a build date of March 9. My dealer says that once a vin has been assigned they will be able to order the part, but after reading through the posts above I wonder if this is actually true.

If you don't have a VIN yet then you can just change your build and have the factory install it. That would be the easiest, and perhaps the least expensive, way to get the glass controls.

TurtleBoy, I selected ametrin metallic for the color (I hope I like it as I’ve seen different shades in different lighting) and somehow that affected the cutoff for changes. I’m sure it would be much cheaper to add it during the build. When I get an actual price for retrofit, I may just stay with what’s on the vehicle. Regardless, I know I’ll love the car. I have a 2014x5x35i, and it’s terrific, but I really like the 2019 redesign.

Okay, that makes sense. Some individual options prevent changes from being made to the order sooner than non-individual orders. I'm leaning towards Ametrin for our next one, I would think you are going to love it. Good luck with it!

Did you ever install the glass shifter? I just purchased a 2019 and it was the only feature missing. Want to know if I can add.

The glass shifter is definitely cool at night but during the day, it does give off a lot of glare when the sunroof is open. Sure it looks better than the stock shifter but I wish there was an intermediate option.

I love the look of the glass shifter. You could put a slight black tint on it that would reduce glare and still allow light to glow. Think, something like a tail light tint.

There are always other solutions. .. They'd be so out of place in the G05's luxo cabin that you'd have some interesting discussions with your riders

it's not really even from the shifter. it's more that it comes from the glass idrive controller.

from all the official media and materials on the crafted clarity series I've looked at in my searches, the arrows aren't lit up. mine was factory installed as part of the Executive package and doesn't light up.

the only time I've seen them lit up is when the iDrive controller has been retrofitted, but results haven't been consistent.

thanks guys for the info. I saw some pics online with the lit up arrows and about to make an appointment with the dealer and have them replace it.
am i the only one think the retrofitted amazon crystal control look more complete?

I'm not sure exactly what your asking here since you don't have a link to what "crystal control" you are referring to.

What exactly are you replacing on your vehicle and why is your dealer doing the replacement?
