Software Update 07/2019.53 - pros & cons

Another observation on CarPlay, not sure of others, but on mine, it connects way faster when the phone remains on the driver side. If I put it on the passenger seat, it previously never used to connect, but now it does - albeit after a couple of minutes , and with no intervention from my part. wonder if others have seen a (similar) pattern to this? Not sure if the WiFi Hotspot antenna is closer to the driver side? (It shouldn't be so picky and directional, but who knows!)

I just noticed it and I agree it is a nice touch.

I tested iPhone 11 pro connecting to CarPlay from both drivers side and passenger side without any issues. I used to lose connection constantly with iPhone X if my hands were covering it the wrong way or if I left it in my jeans pocket.

This maybe weird and I don't want to jinx myself but my son has had his iPhone X setup on my car without any issues, I am on a march release of iDrive. It doesn't matter where he is in the car, front, back, it just works.
Not sure if I want to upgrade to the latest build :s

My center display area on the instrument cluster is gone whenever I enable assisted driving. It is fine when the assisted driving is not enabled to show my map which is improved from the previous software version. Anyone having the same issue?
Fyi, I coded ASS right after the software update.

Just got my X5 back from the software update. I noticed this and it looks terrible! My car is metallic white and the graphic is pure white making it look like a placeholder graphic (like it couldn't load the rendering). It contrasts so much with everything in the image that it looks out of place. Oh well, not a big deal.

Fyi, I coded ASS right after the software update.

This did not happen for me. It still shows the map in assisted driving mode (mine is .55).

Just got an appointment from BMW Newmarket in Tornto GTA and they confirmed my software version upgrade would be 1907553 as of today. I assume it is same as 07/2019.53.

I think 07/2019.55 is out now, seen it mentioned elsewhere.

As I've said in previous posts, I'm on 07/2019.47 and couldn't be happier, no issues for me...

I think BMW Corporate needs to vastly improve their communications with their dealers and service partners, its freakin shocking.
Its inconsistent, un-informed, usually out-dated....I'm sure there are more words that describe the relationship between dealer/service partner and BMW Corporate.

My view on S/W, find a stable version that works for all the features that are important to you, and then stick with it.

Keep updating the S/W, you're asking for problems.

The only issue that concerns me is security and vulnerability risks that S/W driven vehicles introduce. Last thing I want is some hacker breaking into my car and screwing something up that compromises the safety of the vehicle.

If BMW was really "on the ball", then they would provide their Service Partners with the S/W itself, S/W Release Notes, and categorisation of changes (eg. Security, iDrive features, Safety, Connectivity/telephony..etc).

I have tried so many times to post pictures to this thread but both the iPad and iOS apps refuse to upload. It's driving me crazy. Anyway I took a picture of mine showing 07/2019.55.

Most of us on this thread received a email from BMW to come in for an update and did in quickly received 07/2019.53. Two questions:

Has anyone that responded to the email received .55 from the dealer?

Has anyone that got .53 updated again to .55?

Personally I'm quite happy with .53, though hoping for new features in the future.
