ID 8.5 Possible to change cabin temp with controller??

Hello All

I’m pretty accomplished with ID 8.5 after a few months. I tend to use the controller for everything without touching the screen, works for me and I’m very happy to do whatever while on the move.

Recently I discovered if you double tap on the controller track pad you can navigate round the map without needing to touch the screen, I do this often to pick a very specific point to navigate to.

I’ve found a way to do about everything with the controller (more than I could on ID 7 before which is good ) however, I’ve not yet found a way to be able to use the controller to set the cabin temps or turn on the heated / vented seats and wheel.

Anybody found a way to do this without touch? Of course I can use voice and do sometimes but it’s not always convenient with passengers or on a call…

Use voice commands? I was messing with it today, told assistant that im hot. Lowered the temp by 5 degrees. Wife was looking at me funny.

I haven’t tried this yet, but a thought: if you can get to the shortcuts with the controller, maybe you can create a shortcut to the heated seat etc or at least to the full climate control menu?

Same here -- prefer to avoid touching the screen, for a variety of reasons. Sorry, no solution to adjust the temp. However, for the heated/vent seats + heated steering wheel, with the upgrade to 11/2023.42 idrive software, at least there are now settings to control the auto on/off. Unlike the old 'climate rules' where you set an activation temperature, it's just a sensitivity setting. I'm still playing with the setting to get it where I want, but so far seems to work about right.

Yes, it seems like a bizarre oversight to not allow temp changes using the rotary knob. I cannot think of any reason why that would be the case.

My previous MB only had the knob and no touchscreen so I am preprogrammed to use a knob.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the sensitiviy implementation sucks. When it gets colder outside, the heating stays on far too long and I'm always telling ID8.5 to turn it off.

This has been my experience as well.

Frankly, the heated seat system in its entirety sucks in the G05, and I have had non-LCI and LCI versions.

The hottest mode (3) doesn't really get all that hot, but after a sustained period, because it doesn't drop down to level 2 or 1, at some point in my journey I start to roast and need to manually shut it off, which requires like 2,851 taps of the screen to accomplish the goal. The sensitivity thing, while perhaps well-intentioned, needs more work. So far, the ambient temperature rules on/off function worked much better than the sensitivity ESP nonsense.

I didn't much care for the car itself, but boy do I miss the heated seats in my E60. Yes, they required the laborious chore of touching a button to get them to work, but max heat felt like a hot stone massage, medium heat was nice sustainability on colder days, and low heat was comfortable for long trips.
