Michelin Tires 275/45R21 315/40R21
Happily replaced all four tires with with Michelin all season tires. The ride has improved a lot. No rubbing, no issues, just had to change the tire setting on the iDrive.

So iDrive let’s you enter a non-factory spec tire size?

Did the dealer install them? Just curious if they gave you a tough time being out of spec or will void any warranty work down the road. I'm in the same boat with my X6 M50i with 21" summer tires. I would prefer the Michelin tires you got. I would put the summer tires back on at the end of lease so car goes back as spec'd. |

Wish I had seen this post a few weeks back. You don't have the air suspension. My concern has always been the larger tire and the air suspension.

So I'm seeing in iDrive where it lets you change between Summer and Winter/AS tires, but I don't see how its possible to change tire size. It appears you went with +5 on the side wall aspect ratio.

My tire size was not listed on the iDrive, so I went with "All Year" "Other Tires". That was a suggestion given to me by three different BMW Geniuses.

I assume this is an xDrive. You're sure the AWD system will be OK with the different rotation rates between front and rear? I'm in the exact same situation you are only with the 741M wheels. It's impossible to find all season tires for both front and rear from same manufacturer. I'm not super excited about the idea of buying an entire second set at a $5k price point to avoid constantly changing tires on the same wheels. I hate all the mess it makes with the balancing weights.

https://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html The iDrive has been configured to look for a different tires that have different sidewall measurements than what is listed on the menu, so most likely I'll be fine. Worst case scenario, I'll put the original tires back, if I get any warning down the road. I can always sell the Michelin tires on Craigslist for a cheaper price. I gain a smoother and better ride IMHO, If the car doesn't complain. |

Interested to know if anyone with air suspension using this setup. Edit: found answer here. Thanks Pumxee for checking this out. This is great info for those who prefers taller tire side walls. Last edited by SmartSaves; 09-25-2020 at 09:49 AM.. |

I am very happy with these new Michelin tires. Put more than two hundred miles on the tires with no issues at all. Compared to the RF tires, these tires are making the ride WAY more comfortable with much less road noise

IMO Tirerack shouldn't be the only source you could get tires from. Depends where you are located, purchase your tires from Amazon, or Walmart. Then find a local tire shop (with a good review on Yelp), and have them balanced & installed for you. I took with me the below items before going to the tire shop. I made sure they are using my provided tools for the whole process of changing the wheels and tires:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have 4 of these jack pad adapters for all 4 jacking points. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Last edited by Maximus2002; 11-26-2020 at 01:43 AM.. |
