CTS-V 2014 Coupe Sticker 74k with Sports seats and 19" chrome V shaped wheels

Well though I am less than thrilled and not excited to put this in writing as I was really under impressed in a surprising way!!

Car 100% Stock
Miles 1400 miles only
Asking price 58k !! Sticker 74k

First of all I test drove this car because of how long I heard about its raw power and Exhauste but boy neither is there to talk about !! Lackluster performance is what comes to mind - and I am not American Cars Bashing person at all as I take pride in our products but won't lie

1. HANDLING:
Well to start softer than my softest M5 setting which is comfort!
What !!? Yeah softer and you feel more body roll though less heft is helping greatly to hide that body roll! and yeah feels probably more nimble but less tight! Is there such a mixed feeling?
CTS-V 6/10
M5 8/10

2. Steering:
Wheel is nice and road feeling I believe was ample so no complaints and I did appreciate the Alcantara wrapped steering wheel very nice though not beefy enough.
Tie but I prefer my M5 steering but wasn't bothered by it in CTS-V so to speak.

3. Exhauste:
Downright disappointing!!
It is like going to a restaurant that you have been looking forward to dining at for a couple of years and the chef turns out to be taking his recipes from your wife! All thoughts behind the wheel you know LOL
Any way Zero crackling, and no blurbs and forget anything around upshifting or downshifting and not loud and nothing while on cold start like HISSING and again my Passenger friend who was this time in the back seat crammed like sardine !! As the less than courteous SA didn't even offer to sit him in the passenger seat!! Anyway had the same feeling about unimpressive afterthought vs aftermarket exhauste
CTS-V 3/10
M5 6/10
M4 - 8/10
Maseratti GTS 2014 9/10

4. Exterior:
Looks like a rocket and looks a lot more aggressive than it drives !!

5. Power:
My understanding that it has above 500 hp and around 400 torque but common this car felt a lot weaker than M4 mind you M5!! Am I a torque junky or what? Must be or this car is overrated and I don't think so! But you know what It is Preowned and I did push it and RPM was way up there but still was lacking in power department and my butt dyno was telling me "Get out of this boat and back to the real rocket dude, I miss it" but who listens to his butt anyways
CTS-V 6/10
M5 8/10 Reserving higher numbers for better faster more exotic cars -

6. Interiors:
Actually that I didn't expect to like but I did as was very sporty and looks very luxurious and everything seemed in place and driver oriented and we'll appointed with just less than German materials but common much less sticker price too!!

7. Wheels:
Looked too awkwardly small but somehow saw them in black before and looked way better and harmonious with the car's overall batman theme!

8. Room:
What are you talking about
Very crammed in the back and rather small trunk space

8. Transmission:
I believe 6 speed automatic ?
But could be the reason why this car is limping, help me out here!!
It felt like numbers are there and car is not that heavy I believe less than 4000 pounds (Correct me if I'm wrong but you drive it and you feel like nothing is exciting or let me put it that way !! No thrill and no adrenaline rush no matter what you do.

I woukd never think about such car brand new for 75k but when used and asking 58 and can get it for 53k I still won't consider it and will wait for M4 to depreciate (Now that's harsh, sorry reality bites at times)

No put an after market exhauste in that car and that might change a lot about how the car feels as it seems I can't seem to feel fast even if fast with sound track drama anymore !!
Which means no Tesla for me

I was looking at V's before I bought my first M5.
Was very tempting considering I had a 1000hp LS motor sitting in my garage taking up space.
In the end it was interior and gadgets in the M5 that won me over. In the hands of professionals the M5 and V are almost even.
Have to disagree about the exhaust. Stock for stock the V has a traditional V8 sound that I enjoy. Aftermarket exhaust is glorious on the V. Big lumpy cam with aftermarket exhaust is cake. Even with the set up on my M5 I still miss a traditional V8 rumble.

Also, it is so easy to mod a V to run deep 10s.

I had an '09 CTS-V sedan. It was an auto and dynoed around 465rwhp stock and 550rwhp with a relatively mild 9.55 crank pulley, CAI, tune, catted headers and aux H/E. I actually think the CTS-V had slightly better steering feel but didn't like the off center feel. Like the F10 M5, there is a night and day difference when you start modding the exhaust. The interior design wasn't bad, just the choices of materials. It isn't a bad car for the money and I like the aggressiveness of the car.

The coupe doesn't much less than the sedan at around 4,200lbs.

True
I felt that there must be something wrong and I believe rarely if ever Anybody who buys this car will leave it stock!! So probably should drive it in its best shape and form - and then decide ... u r right deep 10's that's never gonna happen with the heft and hard to crack M5 ECU.

Thank you for correcting me -

Now I know why not that M4 nimble feeling -
Sorry for my ignorance about the stats of the car but I wanted my write up to be how I feel it type of review rather than skewed and biased by known stats which still didn't help knowing it makes more than 500 horse power !

It is rated at 556hp and 551lbs-ft of torque....but in reality the M5 makes much more power at the wheels. When you think about it the M3/4 probably makes within 40hp of the CTS-V at the wheels...and weighs considerably less.

I dunno buy I pushed really hard and all I felt with windows down HISSING sound with some not glorious V8 burbles and no pull that excites !! Again unimpressive over all!
And It is mind boggling for me to learn torque is higher than M5 !! R u kidding me and lighter !! That's why Germany won 7-1 yesterday -

Funny amount of misinformation in this thread regarding what the V has, is, and can do. But, as much as I love the big Caddy and it's little Vette brother, they aren't BMWs and can't come close to the build quality, materials, and "complete package".

From the pioneering (from a GM standpoint) V1 to the scintillating V2 coupe, I've been a fan(boy) of this car since the get-go. A while back I went to a dealership with every intent to buy one; I just needed ANY whimsical reason to pull-the-trigger. After the test drive, I was left feeling very unsatisfied. Sadly, I found the overall driving experience to be inert. It has all of the main components to be a superstar - high hp/tq (fastest four-door for a considerable time), decent handling, legitimate value, and palpable quality. It just didn't synergize for me....

Still a respectable beast though...

I know I may be stoned for this but you know what I will have to stick to saying the truth the whole truth nothing but the truth but what's the truth , huh?
Really love the car exterior, It is genius something like S5 genius but that's it when it comes to what I like about the car !! Seriously but let's wait as a newer model is coming down the pipes as we speak and who knows it may be even better and still for that price I understand that is is a bargain for many but not for me -

LOL .... I wonder if he just test drives cars so he can post in this forum or is he truly interested in obtaining a different car.

Good question
I believe could be both... is this bad?
I love this forum - added something nice to my life and not ashamed to admit it
It is part of the fun of owning an M car I believe
But here it is I have a friend of mine who's in town for the week and he is so much interested in cars (A car guy if you will) and I wanted to test drive these cars with him and take his opinion about whether I am just getting bored of my M5 or these are possibly better cars and it seems both and I have been looking forward to test driving these cars but never cared as thought M5 is surely better than all and also had major health issues for the last 2 years and after I got better I thought life can be too short not to get an M5 if you want one so I did - and too short not to test drive any car I like and the list is long and I change a car per year on average and my car is 7 months old now but to be honest I haven't gotten bored of it but want to make sure there aren't other cars within my budget (I am not rich) that I can enjoy more than my M5 then heck why not I can swap in a few weeks as BMW has the easiest lease ever to get out of !! and replace the "M" if that makes me happier in a life that can be full pain and unhappiness at most other times!

But no other car to this moment has stolen my heart the way I am used to before replacing my car not even 50k more expensive cars and that tells you a lot about what BMW has achieved with this car or if you wanna argue tells you a lot how much I like BMW and my M -

Hope this answers your question Vic55
