I have a 2019 US X5 with the July 2019 software update. It is not supported by today’s BimmerCode update.

Can you provide some colour to the statement "not supported"? What do you see when you connected Bimmercode to the OBDII interface in the X5? Did you place the car is "diagnostic mode" (3 presses of start button WITHOUT pressing the brake)? Screen caps would help.

The app is connected. I coded Start/Stop after my July update was installed last week so I am familiar with diagnostic mode and how to code with the app. The dot next to Headunit is grey and not green. I'll take a screen shot later tonight. I believe there was a different head unit identified.

Understood. This could very well be either a country or, more likely, software version variance — we had something similar a couple of months ago. You could/should send the developer Stephan Gauch a note with your issue description, screen cap, and car configuration details including iDrive software version to: support@bimmercodeapp.com ... post summary of reply when you receive it.

I just coded my g05 with the headunit “M” startup animation and it showed the M logo animation after on the ECU reboot. I the tried the Alpine animation next to see what it looked like and got nothing on the next ECU reboot, went back to the M animation and get nothing A blank screen. The video in motion gave instructions to hold the round dial up until the reboot but the instructions to the speed lock menu don’t show up. (Used the Odblink mx+)

Worked great today for me with the Odblink mx+. Coded Start/Stop remember mode (had it previously, was lost in a dealer update). Startup Animation to M Logo. Video in Motion using the extra instructions on the forum here (see below).

Try these instructions instead:

This worked great for me. I let Bimmercode restart the headhunt, then held up on the controller (pushing the knob forward) and at the same time pressed the Media Button, then Home Button, then Media Button. A new menu pops up on screen that lets you select the option.

Bingo! ViM should work OK now. Really good quality screen as well. Kids love it.
Nice. Any other secret menus? :-)
How do you use video in motion? I guess you cannot play anything over Bluetooth in terms of video so it Has to be connected via the USB cable and then you play a YouTube video or any other video on your phone which shows up on the screen. Is that correct? Sorry this is my first car with a large screen where I can use video in motion so the question

Ok, i finally got the speed menu to come up when the directions say hold up on the dial, keep holding the dial up and then hold the media for 2sec, let go, hold the home for 2 secs, then go back and hit media and a 2 line speed menu appears. Select the disable and push the round dial in and wala. Thanks Grentz! Now if i can get that cool M animation back it would be great.

Send him some money, it is existentially motivating when faced with this kind of complexity.
One other thing to add that most probably don't appreciate.

Most, if not all, of the recent G05 bimmercode features are as a result of the work that jokinawa did with esys.

He sent the coding options for startup display, ViM, drive mode, temp display, etc to Stephan at Bimmercode to incorporate into the app and make them available to the masses.

Bimmercode has effectively had free R&D for their commercial app, so big credit to jokinawa in my book.

Indeed I was looking at your git and noticed the g05 specials were pretty much matching the list of new options in the app..

Does bimmercode supports the latest changes YOU have found tho? Ie Lane Change for UK cars, and the others like enabling Sport+ etc?

Probably a noob question but how do I use video in motion? I plugged in my iPhone XS Max to the car using the regular USB port that is by the wireless charging tray and started a YouTube video and then went to the media section and selected my phone as the source but all it did was give me the audio. Do I have to use the USB C port that is in the center armrest glovebox for this to work? Even if I use that USB C port how would I play the video that is playing on my phone onto the I drive screen?

Does anyone know how the video in motion actually works or is it like Audi’s copy the video file to USB to play? The phone method is much better for sure.

The sports + option is MIA

M animated startup screen worked 2x and never seen it again just a blank screen at bootup to regular menus. Only have the BMW animation at poweroff.

Read on Bimmer Tech the video is motion is USB-file based.

Bimmer tech’s SmartView HD ATV3 feature for the F15 X5’s can use iPhones to play videos.

The all new SmartView HD ATV3 was designed, engineered and build specifically for Apple users and enables you to: watch Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Disney and more, view live sports, news, and weather, seamlessly stream music and movies.

We’ll take what we can get right now!

Yeah I just realized that it is only through a USB. That sucks as playing it through the phone would be much more easier and awesome. This puts us back to the old days of downloading content to your computer and then uploading it to a USB...booooo

I don't believe the extended drive modes (Comfort+, Sport+) or Automatic Lane Change are supported as yet. I haven't sent them to Stephan, but I've put the coding requirements in the public domain, so any vendor could adopt them at anytime if they so wish.

I guess it depends on if they peruse these forums

I can connect to device using bluetooth but when I try to connect Bimmercode app it always says connection terminated.

I am not able to connect OBLink app either. It always says command timeout.

Anyone else faced similar issue?

Might be a defective unit, but ... airplane mode with only Bluetooth turned on? Any other Bluetooth devices connected on the Bimmercode app device, eg car? Any other devices in the area trying to connect to the ODBLink device? ODBLink paired and connected with Bimmercode device? G05 X5 selected in Bimmercode app? Car in diagnostic mode?

I think you are not putting the car in the diagnostic mode. That's what happened to me the first time I used it and then I bothered to read the entire error message.

Yep...Press the ENGINE Start/Stop button 3 times rapidly. It will put it in Diagnostics Mode. This is the mode that will talk back and forth to your OBDLink Device.
